Where you felt like there was a big neon sign hanging above your bird say "SHOOT ME!!". http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I tried flying yesterday, and I should have stayed home, instead I lept into the sky, only to discover I was flying the worst possible excuse of a plane, and my virtual head was apparently the size of a small planet.

It started well enough, I jumped onto Spits vs 109's, seeing there was a good mix of folks, and decided to take a 190 out for a spin and get some B&Z action going.

Only see a couple of folks in blue comms, but hey, I figure more will join.

1st flight out went well, got to altitude, got over a fight, saw nothing else up there with me, and went looking for a target. Caught a Spitfire who had just shotup a 109. Dived down and hit him hard, took off most of his tail surfaces and got him smoking on the first pass, then went up jumped back on my perch to survey the field.

I circled and spotted a dot coming up to my long 11 and low but heading right at me, so I lined up on him and started a shallow dive, then right out of the blue *BANG* *BANG* *BANG*, someone smashed the hell out of me, and I have no idea where they came from!

I managed to exit the fight in my now busted 190, discovering in the process that I cant roll the plane, so Im stuck steering via rudder and elevator. Made it back to the field, line up, make a good approach, and discover at the last minute that one of my gear seems to be missing... flight ends with me ground looping on the field. :P

Mission number #2;
Take off, get to alt, and head twoards a fight I can see in the distance. Sun to my back, I line up and start making shape on some spits. I made a couple of diving passes, but both cases, someone warned my target (or they had some great sunglasses), and had no luck. 2nd time back up, I can see that I have the attention of several folks, and decide that its time to vacate the area.

I cook out of there at 400+kph, leaving the Spits in the the dust, when I see a lone spitfire. Aha! A victim! I nose over into a very shallow dive and scream into the spit, and once again from out of nowhere *BANG*! This time, my planet sized virtual head manages to catch the round, and I get the good ole "Black Screen of PK".

Mission #3 Wash, rinse, repeat. Get to alt, line up on Spit at co-alt, head to head pass, potted in my planetsized noggin again.

Mission #4, Take off, circle the field, and some butt-monkey in a 109 zooms in to see who I am, and manages to clip my tail, while attempting to read my id markings by braille. No rudder control, crash on landing. Joy.

Deciding that the no blue comms was just too much of a handicap against the red side (who were doing a great job of coordinating, /s! to you spit drivers), I decided to switch servers.

I jump over to Winds of War, and jump into comms. Plent of guys in red, two guys in blue. Screw flying blue, Im flying with comms this time!

All goes well initially. Grab a P-38, fly out to do some mud moving, and splash several ground targets. Hit by flak on my last attack run, and loose contol surfaces. ****. Hello Mrs. Earth, pardon me while I park my plane here.......

Mission number 2;
38 again, take off, made it to target, whack the daylights out of several ground targets. See one other plane, and its another 38. Cool. We proceed to work over a couple of targets. Somewhere in the process, and I still dont know exactly what happened, I am flying over a town with ground targets, and something beneath me blows up. No control surfaces again. Trim and rudder are working, so I nose up with trim, and kick the rudder over and start the plane out towards friendly lines so I can bail. Passing the far side of the target, I can see tracers again, but I can see other 38's working the target. Right out of the blue WHACK, Black Screen.

Mission #3;
38 again, make it to target, line up on a armor column, and WHACK, my bullet attracting planetoid of a head catches yet another round from the groundfire below.

Misson #4;
Screw the 38, Im joing up with a mess of other pilots as they do a mass run agains Napli harbor in A-20s! We get out, hit the target, and I manage to paste a couple of ground units, wing a ship, and get a piece of a 190 with my front guns in the process. Exit target area, but my bird is shotup to bad and ditch in the ocean. A good run all in all.

Mission #5;
Im back before the rest of the bombers, so I jump in a 47 to go give em some cover on the way back. Find them, find a 190, who promptly shoots out my airleon controls, and wounds Mr. Planetskull again. Manage a rough landing, and the map changes.

Mission #6;
Flying a P-40 (which I hate) on a desert map, flying cover over friendly ships, tangle with a 109. He runs, I follow. I get between him and the shore, and we run up the coast. He finally decides to make a fight of it. Good solid fight, he keeps climbing away, but I keep turning into him to meet his attacks. Several passes go by, and I finally get a solid piece of him, but he manages to blow away one of my elevators. He goes in, Im still flying.

I start heading back to base, when I see three 110s, escorted by three 109's heading to our ships. I call it out on comms, and since I have a good angle and alt, I make a pass at one of the 110's. I get some hits on him, but dont achieve anything, and then the 109's are all over me. Pilot hit AGAIN, and heavily wounded, I break away for friendly lines and bail out. The 109's let me go, and /salute as I exit the plane. Class bunch of 109 drivers!

Mission #7;
Take off in a P-40 again, make it out to our ships again, and see yet another 110. Line up on him, dive in from his 9, and get a good solid burst into his left engine, getting it smoking. Climb up, wing over, and repeat the attack, but he turns away and starts to run. I line up on him again and WHACK! Black screen, PK again, from the tail gunner.

Mission #8;
Change to a Hurricane for some heavier hitting guns, and back 110 hunting over the ships. Not a single 110 in sight, but a mess of 109's instead. Typical. I shake a couple of passes, and get a good angle on a 109 chasing another Hurricane below me. I dive on the 109, line up on him, WHACK, Black Screen. Planethead is dead again.

Mission #9;
Take off, fly out, havent even made it to the fight when I see a 109 flash past my nose! I pull hard to the left and start to circle, WHACK, Black Screen, PK again.

At this point, I confess I was screaming obscenities at the computer, and decided that enough was enough, and logged out to go watch a movie.

Four missions on Spit vs. 109,
Pked twice. Scored zero kills.

Nine missions on Winds of War,
Pked 5 times, wounded twice. (which HAS to be a record). Scored 1 kill.

Yesterday was absolutely the WORST day I have had flying in a long, long time.

Those days feel like almost everyday. It happens to everyone. I had a bad weekend when it came to landings.

Record racks while you are there, so you can review after the fact and see what happened.

Ernest, I was in Sv109s last night, do hope I wasn't one of your antagnoists!

I had a sucker of a day on Sat... this damned 190 was hanging about near my a/f in low cloud and despite my efforts to clear my six, break or just run the hell away he clobbered me 3 times in a row. I was most vexed! He was a great shot.. suspiciously so, but meh, credit where it's grudgingly due.

I was part of the group the group heading for the ships. I was flying formation with my wingman when you jumped that 110, we broke but saw you were already in trouble so we kept going toward target. On our way back from bombing the ships you came at me from behind as me and my wingman were engaged with another set of P-40's. There was a brief fight and then you opted for a swim instead http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I didn't RTB either that time as the P-40's never stopped comming http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

I'll email you the track if you like, it was a nice fight http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Ah, gotcha. You guys were class flyers, you did a nice job on the 110 escort. After I went in on that first run, I jumped back out, figuring you guys would still be mixing it up over the ships.

It definately did get a bit hectic out there. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Lol, you very well could have been. Like I said, I got whacked out of the blue a couple of times by spits, I have a sneaking hunch they were coming up from below, because I didnt see anyone behind me or above, and Im usually quite paranoid about that. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Like I said, the red flyers were doing a good job out there, and obviously were working via comms on several occasions. There were some guys flying 109's on the blue side that were doing well, but they were obviously on their own private comms, cuase nobody else was in blue comms except me and two guys that appeared to be asleep! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
