As the title says. I need help ID'ing this plane. My Father In-law brought adisc over with a heap of planes & this is the only one I can't ID. Any ideas?

It is definitely an Aircoupe. Cute likkle planes, there was one on Ebay for sale a while ago, still a good deal.

Cute lil things they were. Derisively called the "poor man's Bonanza" at times.

The Aircoupe is a two-place, low wing monoplane of all metal construction. Power is supplied by a 90 horsepower Continental C-90-16F engine.

Ease of ground handling is assured by the fully steerable nose wheel, excellent visibility, and brakes. The Aircoupe was available from the factory with the conventional three-control system or with the coordinated controls. With the coordinated controls, the ailerons, rudders, and nose wheel are mechanically coordinated so that turns, both in the air and on the ground, are made by turning the control wheel right or left; the same wheel moved fore and aft controls the elevator. Later models of the Aircoupe included the option of a rear kiddie jumpseat.

The Ercoupe is a later version of the classic ercoupe. The Ercoupe, a pre-World War II design, created the typical modern airplane: a cantilevered low-wing monoplane, incorporating a tricycle gear and all metal construction. The Univair Corporation currently holds the type certificates for all Ercoupe/Aircoupe/Forney/Cadet Models.

The Aircoupe was also the VERY first plane to use JATO for take off.

Take-off of America's first "rocket-assisted" airplane, an Ercoupe fitted with a GALCIT developed solid propellent 28 pound thrust JATO (Jet Assisted Take-Off) booster. The Ercoupe took off from March Field, California and was piloted by Captain Homer A. Boushey Jr.
