Hi

I made myself the same question:

http://forums.ubi.com/messages/message_view.asp?name=us_il2sturmovik_gd&id=zeiai

I worked for three days in my first movie but when i saw UCLANUPE or NTESLA work...well i know what willy feels each time the RoadRunner gets lost...

They use Camtasia software but it kills my frame rates, fraps so far doesn't affect gameplay or track playing (sorry i always record avi files using previously recorded tracks), maybe i must try to play FB in windowed mode and record with fraps at 800x600 to record just the part of the screen where the FB window is.

Or maybe i should upgrade my rig (mmmm...i got to learn to shoot if i want to rob a bank he..he)

Athlon Xp2000+
Asus Mobo A7V8x
256 DDR 333 Mhz Ram (Bottleneck NÔ┬║ 1 for performance)
Asus Geforce 4 Mx 440 Agp 8x (Bottleneck NÔ┬║ 2 for performance)

Good flight to you !

Nonsense, I verified the joints twice!: This was the answer given by chief Mechanic Klaus Stoeffel to Oberst Lotar Von M├╝llenbrock when he complained about some strange vibrations in the wings of his Me-262 during take off. This picture show that Oberst Von M├╝llenbrock's fears were in fact quite real.

Hi again (Rig hang up dueing postin so i apologize if i get posted twice)

I've made myself the same question...i worked for three days in my first movie then i saw UCLANUPE and NTESLA work and i must say that i know what willy coyote feels each time the RoadRunner dissapears in a cloud of dust.

Here is the answer they gave me:

http://forums.ubi.com/messages/message_view.asp?board_id=29&id=zejhd

Nevertheless they use Camtasia software wich kill my fps while reproducing the previously recorded tracks (you're recording your avi files during playback and not during actual gameplay i suppose !) at 800 x 600. Maybe we should try that resolution with fraps and play the game in windowed mode in order to record just the part of the screen that we are using, or maybe we should upgrade our rig (i that case consider buying the Bank Robbery Manual first..he..he).

So far i can fly smoothly with my rig but maybe video editing is a bit out of my hands:

Athlon Xp2000+
256 DDR Ram 333 Mhz (NÔ┬║1 Bottleneck for performance)
Asus Mobo A7V8x
Asus Video Card GF4Mx440 8x (NÔ┬║2 Bottleneck)

I use the normal print screen button in the game for screen shots from tracks. Fraps is used to capture the video from the tracks that we use to make movies. Setting fraps between 15-25 fps upon capture may yield the best results. You must also set your screen res to 640x480. Once You have your tracks sliced you compile them at a high res compression rate with WMM2. THX-1138(NTESLA) uses Camstasia with excellent results. It really depends on your rig.

i use fraps to make recording as well

in order to have greater image quality, i adjust my graphics settings, with best texture quality, maximum anisotropic filtering, and maximum anti aliasing... and it does the trick, hard to say the video was originally in 640*480...

the problem i have is that each track is about 1.5 to 2 Gb size... And i haven't found a satisfactory compression codec yet....

i'm currently using zwei-stein to work the videos, but i have some problem (the biggest being that i seem to be unable to work over big videos, the tracks freeze after some time editing... ), so i gave up for the moment, until a have a revelation /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Hi C6

Well you should try VirtualDub, it's a simple a very small software that enables great compression, tough you need for example the registred version of DivX Pro for using the DivX compression codec. With that codec i have achieved a tenfold decrease in file size.

For my first movie (14 minutes) i recorded small video scenes using Fraps (640x480x16 Directx, AA off), i ended with 3 Gb of files.

Compressed all of them with VirtualDub and then edited the whole movie in Adobe Premiere.

I splitted the movie in 4 episodes (3-4 minutes each) and ended with four 30 Mb files.(still have to find somewhere to host them !)

If you want the Virtual Dub software get it here:

Good flight to you !
