Some random pictures from the local Mercedes-Benz dealership in HDR. I wanted to take more shots but it was -7 degrees C and my fingers were freezing after a few minutes. As usual, if you want a particular shot in high-res format, let me know. All pictures taken in 1504 x 1000 format @ normal quality.

Enjoy! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

That's the new Mercedes design flaw, it helps out the customer. Now you don't have to drive the car before it rusts, it comes pre-rusted http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

No BMW's on the lot because this is Mercedes territory. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Actually I drove up there with my sister's BMW 118i, so technically there was one BMW up there. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I would, but they park all their cars in an underground garage during the weekends and during normal operations, their lot is very busy. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif

I could however photograph the USED CAR LOT of BMW, but don't expect any "new" cars then. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

cawimmer430, just a tip:

You can get rid of the fringes where you blended the exposures (they probably aren't obvious to anybody that's not looking, but I noticed them on several) by putting the darks (or midtones) onto a layer mask of your light (or midtone) exposure.

I find that generally produces cleaner results. Usually I'll have to go in and touch things up, but it's much easier to control the fringing between the exposures that way. Sometimes just a gaussian blur on the mask will sort it out (other times you'll have to do it by hand, but the end result is generally cleaner and requires less effort than other techniques.)

Another option:
If you have any recent version of PS, it will allow you to select a series of exposures to blend (File > Automation > Merge to HDR, I think.) All that you then need to do is set the white point. I find that it generally produces pretty good results, but I usually have to go back with a couple of my highlight exposures and mask a few areas. All in all it usually only takes me 10 minutes or so to crank out a fully processed HDR image that way.

Overall, I really like your shots. I just found the fringing a little distracting in a couple of them.

That frosted Benz badge is poster material. Taken from the right angle and blown up I'll bet you could sell it to them.

Amazing quality (photos, not cars http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif)! Beautiful colors and everything, save the rusty disc brakes. But it's that time of year. Leave any car undriven for a couple of days, and voila - rusty brakes.

Thanks. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Nope, no special filters or camera are used. You can do this with any digital camera that allows exposure changes. And you need a tripod and an HDR editing software program. See how it's done here (scroll down to the middle of the thread and look for my picture post): http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/4081039816/p/2

Did either of you take those pictures, how's you're HDR technique?

I'm sure if there'd been a Corvette, Dodge, or Ford dealership nearby, CW would have shot those too.

I love the retro Camaro we saw in the movie Transformers and I love Dodge muscle cars, especially the Challenger and Charger (yep, I saw "Vanishing Point", "Bullit" and "Grindhouse" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif). I have a thing for Chrysler Corp. and Ford Corp. Muscle! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Sadly, the nearest American car dealerships are in Munich and they don't allow people inside who're not serious about buying one. I'd love to photograph some American cars and make HDR pictures with them. The more variety the better! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

That baby has "SEX" written all over it. Love the Coke-bottle form that thing has. To me, the '68 Charger is THE Charger! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

The '72 Dodge Challenger is hot too, especially in white!

No, I don't prefer Fw over Bf. There is something about the 109 that's strangely attractive. It both scares me and attracts me. It says - allrighty then! Let's go kill something!
