I get it all the time.. Call of Duty 1 and 2 are one......... get called a noob all the time by kids that are 14 or 15 ish in age, me being 46 I sort of say... yup must be my age cause I am getting slow at this......... then say oh but funny thing is I am the top scorer.... or second or third top scorer and wait where are you? ohhh is that you ALL THE WAY down there????????????/ I own you, u noob............. BTW that is all true, in game I will be dissapointed if I am out of the top 3 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif online http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gifhttp://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I would say we all feel like beginners from time to time. When you haven't touched your joystick (yeah yeah, just waiting for insinuations) for weeks or months, getting back in the saddle can be very VERY frustrating. You really loose the edge quickly. And some evenings are just not yours.

The term "noob" in MY book however, is only used by people who think they are "hotshots" but in reality are far from it. In MY book it's just an insult, because it is always spoken with that intention.

Being noob means have a need to learn new things and understand them, soooooooooo I'll be a noob forever because I wan't to know everything...

Can you be rubbish AND good at the same time?

Yes. Bad habits account for most of that, whether they are learned from previous sims, or the complacence inherent to offline play.

In offline play on Fighter Squadron, I was a deity. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Now online I have to settle for plain old rubbish. It's very humbling, but good for building character.

If you know what I mean?

Absolutely. For example I noticed that I tend to raise the bar in front of me as I get better at certain things by some miracle, so eventhough I progress and get better slowly, I still feel like "not good enough". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

To cope with this, once in a while I re-visit the training missions that I created more than a year ago, and I pleseantly surprise myself how quickly I shoot up everything, which I struggled a lot long time ago http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

And never forget the advantage of feeling like a noob: any kill, any successful mission feels 100 more satisfying! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif If you are a (self-proclaimed) ace, bagging enemies are just part of a boring office day. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

I don't need the memories of my few attempts online to feel like a noob. Offline IL2 reminds me often enough. But then if it was TOO easy, this sim would be on the shelf with CFS2 or in the garbage with CFS3.
