I cant hit anything.
Flying at between 200 and 300 metres, nice and level. I read somewhere to release bombs just as the target disapears under your nose so I've tried having my view set to all 3 settings. Close, medium and far and still my rear gunner keeps schtum. No congratulions on a direct hit.

Anybody any tips for this?

I always go low. Very low. Unrealisticly low. 10-20m. 2.0 delay on the fuse. Shallow dive. Hits in 80%.

Feels "wrong" tho.

I use every plane as a dive bomber, only way I can do it...Unless its something huge like a carrier.

Do practice runs while making tracks then watch where the bombs really go in playback.
It helps with gunnery so.........

I bomb in a shallow dive, and release just before target goes under nose. Works for me, at least, you have to kind of lob it at the target.

Dive bomb ground targets at about 70 deg. and aim with the midpoint between the center of the gun sight and its bottom. Release between 500 and 1000m.
Ships are easier - all you have to do is make a run along their length at about 50m height, any speed, and release when the close end passes through the bottom of the sight. Ships are long enough for bombs to land somewhere along them, if you are lined up properly.

Way too high for bombing in an IL-2, my friend. I would say you need to be below 50 meters. Don't forget to set your bomb delay, or you may blow yourself up too.

Simply use rockets instead, and kill two tanks per launch http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Nice shot! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

Modern day guided cruise missles could learn a lot from IL-2's rockets http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

TT, I see the rockets cross on the way down -- what is the range on those set?

I think I got them set to cross at 150m. Took me a few tries before I got it right.
