Hello all,

I haven't been around much on the forums the last three weeks, so I don't know what kind of mention if any these films have received, but I do see that they've only come out recently.

You really can't imagine what is waiting for you on the other side of these two links. /i/smilies/16x16_robot-happy.gif

http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~chapman/flightsims/oberstguncam/Movies/IL2FB_NEW.wmv (138MB)

http://people.ee.ethz.ch/~chapman/flightsims/oberstguncam/Movies/doffbv2.wmv (213MB)

Don't let the file sizes intimidate you. I haven't asked for hosting permission, so hopefully the authors will see this post and give their okay.

Best regards,
Mike

These are great. Something I haven't seen done before is the way they use a chase aircraft, with no-cockpit view as a camera platform. Very very cool.

Took me forever to dl, but OMG! Your right michapma, these are head and shoulders above anything I've seen so far. If you watch closely you'll notice how much work has gone into them.

In one scene you see about 8 or 10 pilots who appear to scramble toward their aircraft, only to dive to the ground as the line of aircraft explode due to Stuka bombs. Knowing that pilots don't scramble in-game I can only surmise that the creators had a line of parked aircraft off camera, whose pilots simultaneously bailed out and ran in the direction of another line of parked aircraft. It would be hard enough to coordinate a bunch of pilots bailing out together, but to time it so that there dives appear to coincide w/ the explosions is awe inspiring.

I downloaded them both and they are the finest examples of movies made yet.

The music in the largest vid is stunning and the dogfight is transformed into an engrossing thing of beauty.

The second one is great too of course but I have my fav in the first/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Why am I having problems viewing either f these films? Am having constant buffering, such that, at best, only see 2-3 seconds at a time.
Is there anything that I can do?[Have a 2.4 gz. and 512 mb. Dell.]

No. Use trucks, when you shot the surroundings, the people in the trucks all come out.

Chap

Thanks for Hosting the mirror for these two great pieces of IL-2 FB art, these movies are without doubt the best I've ever seen. I mean no lack of respect to all the others IL2 pilots out there that have taken the time, and have the skills to produce movies using IL2FB

~~~C~~~
To you all.
redlte,
"Right mouse click" on the link, and "save target as." That way, you download the file to your computer, and watch it later. And you can watch it anytime you like after that. While it's downloading, do a load of wash, or mow the grass. I just downloaded the larger one just now, and it only took 10 minutes or so.
The big movie is extremely good. It's the kind of movie to burn on to a CD-RW and bring in to work to show all the non-IL2:FB people what they're missing.
I just watched the first (smaller) one, and boy is it incredible!
I never knew FB could handle so much airplanes at once. And filming from a plane with no cockpit rather than from outside view is something I've wished to see for some time now, and could never understand why it has never been done before - it looks so much more realistic and impressive than the outside views!
I think these two movies are going on a CD-R today (along with some other chosen few to fill the space, of course /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif ).
While our site does not list them yet, they are available via FREE CD. Stop by and cruise around.
