hehehe virtually a direct duplication of the preceeding quiz, but based on my fave WW2 plane the mighty Me 262

right...... where to begin...

1. On the 18 July 1942 A mile stone of flight occured. What was that milestone?

2. German aircrews assigned Me-262A-2a fighter bombers were faced with a serious problem to thier bombing campaign due to strict orders from top command. What was those orders?

3. What was signifigant about the variant called the Me-262C-1a?

4. The insignia PC + UC was reserved for which aircraft in the Me-262 story?

5. Of the Me-262 prototypes V1 to V7 which types operated without retractable tricycle under carriage?

There, that'll do me for now...... that can be your research assignments. I expect them on my desk by 9am monday morning lol

so PC+UC was the V3 prototype and was the first who flown with his own engines.

the 18july was the day the V3 flown first time he has not tricycle and fritz vendel made it take off in jaming on the brakes after the 800m deadline for take off.

the V1 to V5 prototype didn't fly with retractable tricycle gear.

if i m right the C1-a had both engine reactor and rocket one.

IIRC not to go below 5000 or so meters in a bomb run, to avoid AAA fire. Which of course made bombings very innaccurate, without a proper bombsight...

V5, PC+UE, W.Nr 262 000 0005 was the first 262 with tricycle gear.

The V1 used a Jumo 210G engine and later had BMW P.3302 engines added.

The V2, V6 and V8 crashed, total loss.

The V3, V4, V5, and V7 also crashed but were rebuilt.

Me262C-1a, "Heimatschutzer", W.Nr. 130186 had a Walter HWK 509 rocket engine.
