I only bought ACB, especially for the multiplayer, but now I fell in love for the history, so have tons of doubts, can you help me?
Who is Juno and Minerva? What does the apple really makes? Is it worthy to buy the previous games, before ACR? Oh and I just bought the first book!

Renessaince? If you're planning to play AC2, don't read it, because it'll ruin the story for you badly.
Anyway, if you loved the single player of ACB, then you just HAVE to buy AC2. It's truly amazing. And the story is much better experienced with the game than by reading the book.
In some ways, AC1's story is better, but the repetitive mission structure can be off putting for newcomers who started off with AC2/B. But if you play it, you'll understand the story much better in time for Revelations.
Anyway, here's what I'd do if I were you. You're playing on PS3, right? Buy AC2, and then get ACR on day one so that you can get a free copy of AC1 with it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
PS. I won't explain to you who is Minerva. Play AC2 and see. It'll be worth it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Juno is in ACB, but you won't understand who she actually is if you haven't gone through AC2. Play AC2, and then play ACB's SP again. And pay attention to the story. Happy gaming! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Indeed, if you're that interested in the backstory, you should buy the games.

Welcome to the crazyness that is the AC story. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
I would advise you to play the previous 2 games (even though the first might be a little hard to get through, since it can become quite repetitive gameplay wise) and the AC wikia is always a good (albeit relatively untrustworthy at times) source for information.

I second this! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

People are right, the repetitive gameplay of AC1 might put you off, so if you're not keen to play it watch the cutscenes or buy the latest book 'The Secret Crusade' which covers Altair's story (just started reading it so someone correct me if I'm wrong) if you want to.

But yes: If you liked ACB's style, get AC2! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Play the first two games. Don't go to the wiki, PLAY THE GAMES! Assassin's Creed is repetitive, but the rest of it is amazing. The story is amazing, the gameplay is fun, the atmosphere is very different, but very... amazing.

if you only have time to play 1 game before ACR, i suggest getting AC2 as it is the beginning of ezio story and ACR is the last

you should be able to understand wat is going on in ACR without playing AC1, those the altair parts might have more meaning to you if you play the first one

as said above AC1 is kinda repetitive but as you are already hooked on the series it shouldn't hurt http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I guess I won't be able to buy, ($$$) them at least for now! What if I see the gameplays on YouTube?

AC and AC2 cost $30 combined, but if you don't want to spend the money now, I recommend to you wait and buy them eventually.

My best advice is to rent both of them for as long as it takes you to complete them, still got 52 days until revelations, and if necessary, delay playing rev until you have played all previous 3 games in a row (including BH again)

I have completed each game at least 5 times now, and towards the end of october im gonna play through all 3 again and aim to finish Brotherhood on November 11th (Gives me time to finish college work before Revelations devours my free time)

Juno and Minerva are both what you might call "Gods". They are both based off true legend. They are referred to as "The Ones Who Came Before", the creators of humans they say. They are members of a previous civilization, the first civilization. Adam and Eve were created by them. Get AC2 especially. AC1 might help too, but AC2 is more of a requirement.

Correct. Most relevant info on Those Who Came Before can be found in ACII (they only got a mysterious reference in AC1).

I'm Portuguese too, welcome to the forums. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Well, Juno and Minerva are some of ancient Rome's deities. In the Assassin's games they come through not as Gods per se but rather as advanced beings who sort of retreated after mankind lost it's way, so to speak.

Side-note: One small advice though, buy the previous chapters, because quite simply, if you did love Brotherhood that much, then you're gonna go insane with Assassin's 1 and 2, particularly 1, because Altaïr is absolutely epic. You're definitely right in one point, games here in Portugal are way too expensive, but the positive side is that both Assassin's 1 and 2 are surely platinum now, at least Assassin's 1 is for sure, so you'll be able to find them at a cheaper price. You may not be able to find Assassin's 1 for sale in conventional stores though, it's really difficult to find it now, believe me, I know what I'm talking about. My advice regarding Assassin's 1, is that you try to find it at an online video game store, that's how I bought mine.

Yeah, it's nice to acknowledge people from our own country. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Anyway, if you want to know where to buy Assassin's 1 online, because that's the one you'll find to be much more difficult to buy nowadays, send me a PM and I'll tell you in which stores you can get it. Take care. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

That's the same place I bought my copy. 5€ only, pretty cheap. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I only just bought my PS3 in July, and the guy tried to sell me Brotherhood right off the bat.
Someone else stepped in to tell me there were two other games before that one, and said I should start at the beginning.

So I got AC1 and 2 first and I'm glad I did because I was introduced to the complex story bit by bit.
I say definitely get the first 2. AC1 might be a bit repetitive but you can finish it in a couple of days if you have a bit of free time on your hands.
AC2 is where it really kicks off http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

No problem.

You know, I only got my PS3 quite recently, around Easter actually, and just before good Friday I went out to buy Assassin's 1 but I couldn't find it anywhere, literally. I even tried at GAME, because I've got an account in that store, but with no luck. I tried to place an order to a copy in every store I went, but every employee would tell me that it was impossible because it was a very difficult game to get since it's production had been "discontinued". I did what anyone in my place would, and bought Assassin's 2. It was only a week later or so, that I found it in an online store, plus it was platinum so it cost me 10€ or so. The advantage is that they mail it to you, all you have to do is choose that form of payment, go to the post office after you receive the notification, pay and get your game. But if the GAME has it, then by all means get it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Well, as you can see in my previous reply just above, that happened to me. However, I was forced to play Assassin's 2 before Assassin's 1, since I couldn't find anywhere. But essentially, that is of no consequence, because I then played Assassin's 1, re-played Assassin's 2 and only then did I get to Brotherhood. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
