View Full Version : Inventions you would like to see in AC Brotherhood

I'm sure there is another thread about this somewhere but it doesn't matter because i want to focus a bit more on Leonardo's involvement in the game. here is a list of Leonardo's creations during his lifetime:
Flying machine
first tank
Eight Barreled Machine gun (don't think this will happen lol)
Giant crossbow
First Helicopter Design

we already know they have confirmed an ADVANCED version of the flying machine witch is going to be in the game and we also know Ezio will also have a crossbow, dual guns would be good, but i cant see it happening.

maybe combining the helicopter with the eight barreled machine gun would be cool...he he he
there again maybe the flying machine will have this enhancement

post what inventions you would like to see they don't have to be one of Leonardo's but i thought since hes going to be in the game
(i think) id post some of his inventions in as well

The only thing I'd like to see out of that list is the Giant Crossbow but I think cannons are more efficient so it would just be for novelty value.

I'm not sure what they mean when they say 'advanced' flying machine so I'll reserve judgement on that for now.

Judging by the way the series is going, I'd say it'll probably have a pair of machineguns mounted on the wings for strafing runs. Which is not cool in Assassin's Creed.

Xanatos2007...Did you steal that thought from me?!

Becasue I know I wrote it down on aother thread and maybe you saw it and thought about it too.

I just want a simple answer.

And if you think I'm too serious like most of the people here that think so, I can take a joke or a meme, but I'm a fun and "light" guy.

i would love to see Leo's Scuba Gear with some underwater gameplay...also it seems that a parachute will be included in the game...Leonardo made the first sketch for a parachute

yes they have also confirmed the parachutes as well in the game, if you go on play.com and look at the games description it includes using parachutes to take out your targets, sounds pretty cool, and no i have not been on any other thread associated with inventions lol as i said i couldn't find any threads about this so i decided to make one lol

That would be so sick. Like, you need to infiltrate a building with guards EVERYWHERE. But they aren't below. So you use the scuba gear to go under from the Tiber.

A video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQM0bfBQvDA) of all of Leo's inventions that the world has found so far. There are so many possibilities that Ubi could utilize for the game. I'd like to see the tank. Saw a tv program about Leonardo (think someone on here posted a link to it), and some soldiers built it based on the designs in Leo's notes and it looked awesome (once they got it going.)

If you can have multi-story siege towers rollin around the country side, I don't see anything wrong with tanks cruisin down the streets of Rome.

Did some of you guys nont watch the vid before you asked stupid questions about the tank.
1st off, were not talking about a run of the mill big green war machine blow your *** to
bits kind of tank... It's a big old wooden round thing with 360 degreese of cannons...

Secondly it would obviously be powered by man... A big crank powered by 3 people. No steam or slave power... Though it would be fun. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Still though. It defeats the entire purpose of "hide in plain sight". A big wooden thing barreling down the streets of rome would be pretty suspicious. Why would assassins use it when they have parkour, and now, the horse, to rely on. "Oh hey Ceasre! Here we are in this big slow moving easy target of utter suspiciousness. Go ahead and take us out!"

Well if we're going for lasers why not just put in a laser cat SNL style. I mean that may be to extreme for Renaissance so maybe as a weapon for Desmond. See and it's perfect for an assassin because no one would suspect someone holding a cute little kitty in their arms to turn it around and shoot a laser from it. Perfect stealth laser weapon for the alternative AC future.

Another option is that Cesare is the one using the tank, if he finds Ezio's Rome headquarters and decides to seige it.

Also, keep in mind what Altair said in the codex: the new generation of assassins don't necessarily need to adhere to every tradition (like stealth.) They use whatever is necessary to get the job done http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Actually, what Altair meant was that they had to break off the traditions that made them easily identifiable. Like cutting off a finger, not using poison etc.

BTW folks, Leonardo did not invent alot of items to which he is credited for. He merely improved on the designs. For example, the parachute shows up in texts long before Leonardo. That is not to say he wasn't a genius for his time but let's give credit to where credit is due.

Also, gunpowder had just been introduced to Europe in the mid 1400's yet it had been in existence for a few centuries which explains Ezios gun. The europeans had toward the end of the 1400s just begun to make steel strong enough to withstand the gunpowder explosion - however technology had been around for a while that allowed grenades, and cannons (smoke bombs that Ezio carried). And if you remember, Altair went East and traveled extensively so he could have learned of alot of this tech before Europe did.

Now flamethrowers were also in existence long before this...that would be interesting?

So far the devs have stuck with history's timeline in what could have been possible at the time. Which means somebody has been reading up on China at Ubisoft.

Also, what other inventions did he get credit for but not invent and who did invent them?

There is text called the Nung Shu that contains many "inventions" that had already been in existence for quite sometime. This book, I believe is also responsible for Italy's mills, locks, and the start of the silk industry and trade which evidently the Medici's financed heavily.
In fact, here is an account from a book which describes early attempts at a human flying in the 9th century. The emperor Kao Yang caused many prisoners condemned to death to be brought forward and had them harnessed with great bamboo mats as wings and ordered them to fly to the ground from the top of a tower....everyone died but the emperor watched with enjoyment and much laughter.

The helicopter rotor was implemented in a common Chinese toy and later improved upon by Da Vinci.

I can go on but it does not discredit Leonardo in any way. He was sill a genius that could take an idea and mold it into something more refined. And yes, he still made many contributions on his own that contributed to what we have today.

SteelCity999
08-12-2010, 10:22 AM
Also drawings of a parachute can also be found in a work by Francesco di Giorgio Martini which Lenoardo had access to and annotated. Leonardo's differs from Francesco's and was an improvement.

human flight had been sattempted before, but never designed as extensively as da vinci. ofcourse it was never built (or was it hm hm hm) most of his stuff wasn't. he even invented a robot (by robot i mean person shaped thingy that did a few movements). but due to ignorance of the nobles, and ofcourse that catholic church, most of the useful things he designed, such as bycicles, scuba suits (though its purpose was miltary.) etc. where never actually made, and we are less advanced for it. boo hoo church boo hoo.
