cheksixx, I haven't tried it myself, but you'll need a picture of yourself, in bmp format, 256 pixels high x 192 pixels wide (close may be good enough, though I'm not sure.) name the picture "Photo.bmp" (without the quotes) and replace the default picture in the DGen folder with the same name.

I used a digital camera and infanview photo
editer free from airwarfare. Used it to resize
pictur 192w 256h colors 8bpp. renamed old photo and renamed my pic to photo and added it to dgen. You can also add real pilot photos in
the same way.

So by naming the pic "Photo" makes it appear as your pic in the roster? A link to the infanview editor would be appreciated.

necrobaron, from airwarfare's links page (~ 2/3 down):

http://www.airwarfare.com/links.htm

is this link:

http://www.irfanview.com/

I haven't used the utility myself, but I assume this is what gbollin is refering to.

The Photo.bmp in DGen (for AEP, I'm still waiting for PF to show up) is the picture used as your photo in the roster (click on Photo.bmp while browsing the DGen folder to confirm it is the same default picture of the guy with the leather helmet and goggles.) I didn't take a photo of myself to use. I was too lazy, and just used a picture of one of the Russians in the ru folder within DGen, who looks a lot like me (poor guy.)

www.infanview.com (http://www.infanview.com) is the site. I thought it was on airwarfare i the essential file area but was wrong sorry. The default pilot photo is named
photo just rename your pic to this and and it
should work as long as you converted to the proper size and format as posted before.

Thanks fellas.

After some effort, I superimposed my face on the pre-existing body of another pilot in the US folder. The pic looks slightly wierd(can't put my finger on what's "off"), but it's a solid effort nonetheless. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Well putting it in the US folder didn't work. I still had the default pic. So I put the pic in the Dgen folder(but not in a specific country folder), and now there's just a empty space where the roster pic should be. The pic is named "photo", is a bitmap, and is 192x256. What am I doing wrong? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

The image used for your pilot in the campaign is located here \DGEN\photo.bmp - not in the sub folders for each nationality.

If you wish to use a personalised pic - or one from any of the nationality folders - just place it in the DGEN directory and rename it "photo.bmp".

Thanks for the advice, but I've already done that. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

necrobaron, I believe the Photo.bmp is case-sensitive. Capitalize the "P" and see if that works.

I believe the FB manual or 'read me' told how to do it...............

You have to change your pic to bmp and
resisise it to match the pilot pictures.
It is 195 by 256 colors 8bpp.

I changed the case, but still no luck. This is driving me nuts, because I changed the roster pic back when FB came out, but now I can't remember how I did it. I've followed the instructions and can't see what I'm doing wrong. Does pic size matter? Mine is 144KB which I notice is somewhat larger than the others.

Have you tried just copying any one of the standard pilot bmps into the DGEN directory and renaming it Photo.bmp?

If one of those shows up correctly in your pilot profile screen then there may be something wrong with the image you're currently trying to use.

Cheers

I finally got it to work. I didn't have the pic in 8 bit. A stupid oversight on my part... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif
