Hey, Ubi, I just read the description of the Brotherhood multi-player mode.

I have just one thing to say: Where's my credit?

I'm serious.

I did a Playtest for AC2 and I literally suggested THAT for any possible multi-player. The only difference is that I suggested customizable outfits to be more unpredictable.

If you think this is a joke, my contact info is in this account and my name is on the Playtest sheet.

I've been trying to get into the game industry for a while now and was even refused access to Ubi campus for some formalities. This is just feeling wrong...

Chances are, you're not the only one with those ideas.

Maybe many other people did the same thing.

Also, I doubt Ubi ever responds to posts like this.

I'd say to leave it be, and then find work at another gaming studio. Find one, play their games, if you like them then go work for them.

Did it not occur to you that if they gave an address for this stuff they would get millions of e-mails a day, entirely defeating the point?

Posting ideas on a forum is one thing, but writing down stuff that goes directly into dev hands is another. I was very specific when I wrote this down.

Besides, I think it was pretty clear that the Carnavale mini-games were a test for multi-player ideas. With 400+ people on AC2 there was no reason not to include a MP unless it was actually in and later judged too poor or inefficient to ship.

To be honest, I don't know what else to do. Posting stuff on forums is what I know and I don't have a number or an e-mail that makes sense. I could just walk there, but to be honest, going to ask the HR lady to meet with X important guy unannounced doesn't sound like it will work.

Hmm, well I am not sure exactly what to tell you.

I can only wish you luck in whatever it is you're going to to try and do.

Why do you want credit? Hundreds of people never get credit, but they don't drag it on. Anyway, it's not even your game, and you have no say in anything about the company.

Please understand I'm only trying to be friendly, not ignorant, or anything, just trying to help.

You may even want your name in the credits? Well to tell you the truth, I am not very sure that 'credits' would give you what you want (who reads them... really)?

So... I guess either leave it alone, or you can try something to your ability.

I don't know what I want...

Like I said, I've been trying to get in for a while now, and been refused to even be taught. Now that something I was thinking becomes real, I feel a bit betrayed.

I just want my dream job, I guess.

ubisoft is a big company, its unlikely that they would hire people with little or no expierience in actually working in the games industry. like with most things, you should start small, show up as someone suitable for ubisoft employment.

and to the imediate point, i doubt you are the only one, who came up with the multiplayer ideas. they like to get general feedback, and produce a mix of lots of different ideas, so i doubt it will be all your idea, there will be other, and different stuff.

also as they are a company, then they would have an email address, they have to,(anyway, forums dont go directly to the devs, they're often reviewed by the community dev who will inform the others of anything interesting) and as this seems to be a legal subject, it would be likely to get read. not that it would do much good.

what i cansay however, is that you are giving the impression of bieng quite vain.

I know this is the internet, but I came asking about something I'm feeling legitimately confused with because I have nowhere else to go.

What would you do if a company that refused you entry in multiple forms and then out of nowhere pops a product with the exact thing you suggested to them earlier?

Nothing. That's what. You'd just let those dreams die away.

Wonderful attitude.

Not exactly, I'd approach the situation in the appropriate manner and try to achieve something that would impress them enough to get me a foot in the door..

I certainly wouldn't post a self gratifying discussion on their forums to try and draw attention to myself... claiming that you had an idea for something that many others may have considered before you.

I'm convinced you actually made little or no effort to contact them before you made this post so in my opinion you're just looking to soathe your ego.

Sorry squire, but it seems to me you just need to try harder...

If you're just looking for a "cheers to Noccifer for suggesting the multiplayer game mode" in the credits, then I guess you're doing the right thing.

If, however, you're looking for some sort of financial recognition for your contribution, I suspect you're fresh out of luck. Barring some sort of ex gratia payment (really unlikely), your best bet would be court proceedings alleging unauthorised use of you intellectual property. But I strongly suspect that if you look at the playtesting contract you signed, it will contain a clause saying that any ideas you contribute during the course of employment are owned by Ubisoft. Just my opinion, of course, not knowing the content of any agreements you signed and in what context you contributed the suggestion.

If you're looking to leverage the opportunity for employment, well to be honest ... I'm not sure too many employers would take kindly to public criticism as justification for employment. Maybe be a little more discreet in how you contact them and suggest that your proposal merits an employment opportunity.

It`s not about money, but yeah I could have been more subtle.

I don`t know, maybe I`m just panicking. My environment hasn't exactly been stress-free lately.

However, I`m pretty sure this can`t be a coincidence. Maybe I can get an internship or something low-level like QA Testing or whatever.

I'll try to contact an HR person this week.

Good luck with it then. I'd say I hope you get in so we have a line on the inside for SC6, but I'm 99% sure you'd be muzzled by non-disclosure agreements before you got through the doors.

Maybe a small suggestion? If you do manage to get in touch with HR, suggest working a short trial period for free? I did a uni paper in HR with a lecturer who was keen to help students get work placement, and the lecturer described a story of a student who had their heart set on working for a particular big company and agreed with HR to work for a few works free and uncontracted. They were offered a pretty good employment contract at the end of it.

Of course, the lecturer also told the other side of it, with another student who tried the same thing at a different company and was told that their work had been appreciated but there was no place for them. So you might waste your time. But even getting some time in a gaming company would be pretty beneficial, I would have said - if you could make it happen.

When I woke up I was feeling like crap, but after reading this I am in a bloody good mood!

And to Noccifer, well I can understand how when you are down on your luck it is easy to get hung up on anything that will get you where you want to go. But mate, I think you need to take a step back and think about what you have been saying. I mean think about it... it sounds really lame, so you played the game and they asked for your feedback, great. But did you ever think that a company as BRILLIANT as to make AC 1 and 2 with such complex intertwining storylines, did not already have the idea to make the next game have a multi player options (with storyline attached) tucked away? As with most companys I am sure they were just looking for feedback to make sure this is what the clients wanted. hahah I mean think about it, somehow I don't think they read your suggestion and went, EUREKA!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

I think you need to listen to everyone's advice and if you really want to work for the company then get a job doing ANYTHING! My grandfather got a job working for Duracell batteries as a janitor...and worked his way up to inventor. His name is on the battery of the Eagle on the moon and was one of the key people in the invention of the pacemaker! So all of that is to say, if you REALLY want something you can achieve it. But coming online and crying about it just makes you look like a jerk and why would Ubi hire someone who is trying to make them look bad? I hope for your sake they have not read this... to be honest if I were you I would just be glad that I got to test the game out and got to directly contribute, something a LOT of us would like to do.

Here's the not so funny thing:
You're the only one who completely missed any "point".

In your delusional state of argumentative supremacy, you completely overlooked the fact that your response to him is as bad as, if not worse than, his response to Ubisoft.

Better start opening your eyes to the matter I speak of, rather than addressing the same mundane matter you feel the need to press on for multiple posts, which further stabs into the heart of the irony of that post count comment.

It's a lot more likely he who spurts the same mockery over and over is the one grasping at straws. It shows a lack of substance, mainly due to incoherent thought patterns.
To put it simply: this jab at post count is incredibly shallow, and shows a weak argument that has to be puffed up with some sort of cutting comment at the end.
Oh, well, that may not be so simple. We'll see if I have to repeat it.

No, the irony isn't lost.
My hands are tied, since I'm forced to repeat myself since the "point" seems to fly over your head; therefore, numerous posts are made.

Is there a word for intellectual BDSM?

You aren't forced to respond, you feel like you have to to prove yourself. Also, the fact you feel the need to lower yourself into doing the same thing I apparently did to prove my point to prove your own means you're just as bad as me... and I seem to be just as bad as the OP lol

You've given your fingers a workout for naught.

I used the word "tied", and you decided to carry out a deductive inference.
The problem is that you didn't deduce or infer correctly.

When somebody misunderstands something I have said, it isn't fair to keep them in their own realm of ignorance, and so I feel that I must correct their thoughts of my sayings.
Otherwise, me saying anything would have been pointless, and so to reignite the purpose of saying something, I must repeat it until it gets through.

It's totally irrelevant to your case and his, and drawing a line connecting the two and insisting on the existence of that line is amusing, and further proves your lack of substance.

And, in another attempt at proving you do have substance, you repeated the same thing five times within one post and worded it slightly differently each time, so as to create the illusion that your point is valid and vast.

The only thing I am undecided about is whether your insistence of me being a female is due to the will to convert an assumption to an insult so as to hide your mistake and make yourself seem superior, or if it's due to an increasingly worrying lack of comprehension.

I lie. It's not worrying at all.

I'm wondering why you haven't started that charity up for yourself, seeing as you're oh so capable of it.

In any case, that's a very modest and humble thing to offer, and I do hope you carry out that claim.
For your sake as much as mine.

I take it that was your version of 'I know you are, but what am i?'...

Yeh, you're a feckin' genious man lol

All those big words at your disposal and you come out with that... kinda disappointed to be honest http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

Its cool though, you have plenty of people around here to 'rub' your 'ego'.

If you haven't realized, coming up with something fanciful isn't worth it, since your track record with understanding isn't the best.

Sure petal, you saying one thing then trying to make it seem like something else later in the discussion makes for a clear and concise flow to the whole thing...

Auch dang, I keep forgetting you're a guy... excuse the petal remark. Your pompose, looking down your nose style of 'chit chat' tends to through me off sometimes http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif
