These are actually screenshots of how Assassins Creed plays on my XBOX 360. Anyone have any thoughts of what's going on here?

Woah there is something definitely wrong. Is this happening to other games? Pop in different game see what happens.

It has happened once in Oblivion but not as bad as this. Does this mean by XBOX is dying?

you tried to restart it ?...maybe its overheated...take some hours off the xbox 360 and let it cool down ^^

Definitely something wrong with your 360. Similar thing happened this past summer but my screen turned snowy red and froze. After restarting I got RROD. Could be symptoms of death.

Unfortunately, that seems the most likely answer. The alternative is that you have a defective copy of Assassin's Creed. Even at that, it seems improbable that the game would continue to read rather than showing a disc error message. Factor that in with the fact that you experienced the same effect (albeit mild) on another game, and I'd say you've most likely got a defective or damaged 360. If you still have the receipt, call 1-800-4-MY-XBOX, and they will get you squared away, as the warranty should still be valid.

It's definitely an issue with the GPU. Does the console ever freeze when it does that? Every time mine would do weird artifacts like that, it would also freeze and made a buzzing/screeching noise in the speakers.

I think the game is pushing your 360 to the point of inevitable death. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

There are other people who are having a similar problem with their PS3 version of the game I believe.

Actually it doesn't freeze up, I can still play the game when it looks all funky like that.

This issue does look alot like the one people with PS3s are having, but I have an Xbox...

I'm having that same problem, happens when I go to a viewpoint and just recently happened when I went into eagle vision. It didn't start freezing on me until after all my restarts on it.

I exchanged my disc of AC for another copy and it's still doing the same graphical error. Oddly enough it didn't do it when I was in Demascus.

Face it, I know you hate to cause it is such a great game. But it can be a bit glitchy sometimes and it does naturally freeze up from time to time. I've come to turms with it and I still love the game. I have not changed and niether has the game.

Hermes 820, how long are you playing it? I think that after very extended play 360s tend to make games glitch and crash. Just turn of the system, let it cool for a bit and put it back in. I do it and it works fine later on.

I've had this same issue with Oblivion and Pirates where it looks like the textures get ripped away and that underlying "stuff: gets exposed.

What I can say is:

1. Good news your Xbox isn't gonna die because mine hasn't and I've been seeing this for a year.
2. It isn't a problem all the time. It only happens sporadically for me. Very, very, very sporadically. Like once in Oblivion and twice in Pirates in about 18 months.

Bad news: It appears to be a persistent issue for a particular game session. When it happens to me the save game and all other saves related to this save that happens with this is toast. In other words, if this is save 4 and save 1,2,3 are earlier versions then going back to those won't fix it and saving it into slot 5 won't help either.

It could just be a slower death proccess. But anyways, if it does die, goods news is you can send it back a say it is red ringing. Bad news is it will take 4 to 6 weeks to get it back.
