does anyone know what we migt expect about the J2M5 performance wise, in Hardball aircraft weiwer it just seems like the J2M3 performs better in every way, even at alt?
Or is it just very high up the J2M5 performs better?

well, the Aircraft viewer is based in the latest IL2compare.
and yes, there the J2M5 is odd in comparison to the J2M3 !
the idea behind the J2M5 was to give it a better altitude performance. even this is not shown in the il2compare curves..........

Francillon is giving in his book 382mph in 6800m - that the compare is showing.
but the J2M3 is much faster than the also in this book given 365mph at 5300m http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

we will see.

The J2M5 should perform better at high alt due to get the 3 stage supercharger replacing the 2 stage supercharger of previous versions. A slightly roomier cockpit should provide better view from the cockpit. Negative point one more frame strut on the sliding canopy and the M5 climbs lesser fast than the M3.
