Here's the link to my latest (and last for a while) Battle of Britain 2: Wings of Victory movie.

The film called simply "Raid" is set on "Battle of Britain day" September 15th 1940, and has been created by flying a bomber and fighter mission for the Luftwaffe in the Quick Action/Historic in the game menu.

The action centres around a fighter pilot trying to stave off the RAF as the bombers approach their target.

There is no story as-such, it is just an intense action sequence, lasting 11-minutes, which shows large formations under heavy sustained attack, planes falling on fire and exploding, some in cockpit 6-DoF action, and finally the conclusion with the bombs striking the target. Finally during the end credits is Black and White gun camera footage from the days events.

The film is set to a stirring soundtrack, but does not include any of the in-game audio due to time constraints, which would have extended the project another couple of weeks, which I cannot spare at the moment, sorry!

So with that in mind, the video is 800x444 widescreen format and you will need the Xvid Codec to view it, which can be downloaded here:

http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/

The file is a 99.5mb .zip which can be downloaded here:

http://www.mediafire.com/?cw24z2gy1rx

As always I like to hear your comments so please leave feedback.

Just so you know, (it is in the credits), this is using Patch 2.07, the Multiskin pack, and the Peliland V3.0 texture update.

I have slightly de-saturated the coulor too add a slightly aged look.

Anyway, on with the show, cheers, MP.

Wow! I don't know what your profession is, but if you aren't in the movie business, I think you've missed your calling. I think your work rivals what we've been seeing on the Dogfights episodes.

Again too, the guncam stuff at the end is most realistic. I've watched tons of the real stuff for years and yours' look very true to life. Any chance you might do a tutorial on the how tos?

very very sexy! i think the sheer number/action and mayhem really made this one a great movie to watch

so, i've been officially missing out on BoB2:WoV, haven't I?

Very nice work again, m8.

You really made an effort to show the numbers of aircraft this time which demonstrates what BOBWOv has over IL2 in spades. You also did a good job of showing the insane confusion when so many are present all flying and dogfighting.

Excellent work.

One criticism:

The music from Pirates of the carribbean and the bit where the Kraken shows up (I forget track name) is replayed and replayed far too much midway in the fight (on approach to bombing). Over done so as to be noticable - Play it once or not until the base is hit. Where you had it right was when you played it as the bombs hit the British base - that was perfect. It gave the feeling of death and destruction met out in its awfulness on the hapless base.

Good choices of music, all of which I recognise since I have the soundtracks (including backdraft) too which I listen to when doing my artwork!

This movies really show the epic nature of the BOB. It shows the confusion and fear the young pilots must have had flying into major air battles.

The brave pilots willing to fly and fight daily should never be taken for granted.

MP thanks for showing us this small slice of BOB history. Outstanding work.

Excellent film Mystic! Love the Dorniers.BoB/WoV seems to convey the feeling of speed better than il2.

Yes, not my usual standard, it is looped about 3 times.

Unfortunately the audio I had installed got corrupted (as you saw from the post at Shockwave), and I know that I am not going to be able to spend much time editing over the next month, so I had to do a quick audio edit last-night. That meant re-rendering the file, compressing it, zipping it and uploading it all in the space of about an hour!

So, while the audio for the first 4 minutes is looped and not as 'sweet' as I hoped, please don't let it detract from the overall experience, but fair comment Seafire.

I think as-well that that is the most planes I;ve ever managed to get on screen without any slowdown, has to be near 100-150? Blimey!

Thanks for all your comments so-far gents, much appreciated.

I will try and put a comparison gun camera video up showing the difference between IL2 and BoB2 using the 'Puma' old-damaged film technique, no tutorials yet...it's too good http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Cheers, MP.

Here's some links to my previous films for you too:

If you prefer the higher resolution (349mb) version of "Not my time to die!" (which I thoroughly recommend and would prefer you to watch for quality), get it at Mission4today here:

http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=1883

There have been others such as this Hurricane ground attack I created for a museum:

http://www.mediafire.com/?0fjzejbbj5i

and another which was called 47 Heaven:

http://files.netwings.org/files/fb_videos/47_Heaven/47Heaven.zip

Finally there is Secret Weapon over Stalingrad:

http://files.netwings.org/files/fb_videos/Secret_Weapon...onOverStalingrad.zip (http://files.netwings.org/files/fb_videos/Secret_Weapon_Over_Stalingrad/SecretWeaponOverStalingrad.zip)

These are probably my best known. All use the Xvid codec which can be downloaded in the top link, cheers, MP.

Great video. The blurring effect as that ME flew by was awesome.

Honestly though, the sim just does not do it for me. The plane movements, especially when turning and twisting, seem jerky, almost like they are missing animations or something. It is not a frame rate issue because the frame rate is fluid and consistent on my rig. I don't know it if is my computer or what but I installed and uninstalled the sim at least three times across two rigs with the same assessment, even with the latest patches. There are a few other issues I don't like about the sim, but that is the main one for me.

I am sure it is just me, as the sim has many great unique features. And that movie is jaw dropping and inspiring. Almost enough for me to reinstall the sim once again. But alas, I will be in the same situation. I would rather leave my impression of that as is, with that incredible movie you posted.

Thanks for sharing!

Oh yeah, I love the 110's! A very odd but likable craft indeed.

Okay this convinced me to plunk down the $20 bucks.

I just read where this company is, not more than 70-80 miles away from where I live, sweet.

Nicely composed movie.

You allready explained the problem with the sound. Dunno what composing software you use, but a slightly smoothed fading in of the looped part could remove the "CD broken?"-effect. At least on my soundsystem, the start of the loop was clearly audible.

The bluring was really nice, but it faded to suddenly, IMHO. Maybe this can be done a bit softer?

Watching your video again, I think I'll reinstall BoB2:WoV. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
