I picked it up right after it was published and enjoyed it. I think it's the only english language memior from an actial IL-2 pilot. Gives good IL-2 operational details and shows the human costs born by the pilots.

If you like first-person accounts of the air war, I highly recommend this.

Hmmm, looks like it might be a good read. The only other first-person VVS memoir I've heard of is Kaberov's Swastika in the Gunsight.

I ordered a copy right after it popped up on the forums a few weeks ago. it is next on my list after two library books, Jungle Ace,(which i am reading now) & First Light by Geoffry Wellum.
I am definitely looking forward to reading this. Not too often you get first hand stories from a coffin pilot.

It's got a good rating on Amazon. You'll love First Light, Brassturtle - brilliant book. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
