View Full Version : Ezio's Fighting Style

So after watching some trailers for Assassin's Creed II, I noticed that Ezio has this sort of "elegant" (can't think of the right word) fighting style.

They are shown in these videos:

@1:41 Trailer 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yp_AlOMcdjw)
He performs an upswing with the mace, but he sort of spins his body while on his toes.

@1:15 Trailer 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a12e3iKzqlw)
Again with the spin (or half spin) as he pierces the guards face with the spear.

What do you guys think of it? Personally, I like it.

It kinda hard to combare altairs with ezio. Altair was limited alot. Only 3 weapens. You couldn't even fist fight agaist guards in assassns creed since the punching was like turn based. In assassins creed2 ther are way more weapons. The fistfighting is actually usefule in this game

Ezio is Italian. Of course his fighting style is more elegant. I think it makes him even more of a bad*ss

2:21, really elegant (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAnezePbkl4).

okay, admittedly, thats a bit harsh. However, the fist fight before that was elegant.

That fist fight looked cool, but it was a little too "fantasy". Something like that would never actually work right. I would have liked it even more if Ezio had just pushed the guard out of the window.

Yeah but, we're talking a video game here. While most of Assassin's Creed is pretty realistic, the Animus is fantasy, the Templar vs Assassin storyline is fantasy... so why shouldn't they make the fights look as awesome as possible?

I didn't say it wasn't cool. It's just that from a practical perspective the simple method would be better than the elegant. Plus, it's a lot funnier.

Eh. Im partial to elegance. It suits my style.

Hey, I just realized that this is the first time you've noticed me on the forums. I feel complete now.

If you're seeking my approval then you've got some serious problems.

I think I liked Altair's fighting style more than the "elegant" parts of Ezio's. In reality, those moves would only work with the help of dumb luck. I'm not looking to argue about where the line should be for realism in video games, but personally, I just appreciate how Altair's moves were simple, practical, and brutal.

Yeah, Altair was pretty bomb. Although some of those were slightly ridiculous. If you look carefully in the videos, you'll see that sometimes Ezio uses the side or pommel of a weapon to knock his enemies around before finishing them off with a pointy part. Which is a lot more practical than slicing endlessly at a Templar with a sharp sword. people die when they meet the sharp edge of a sword.

and I was being sarcastic, cause you're like the super-poster.

I have the same opinion, but I did enjoy the way Ezio pushed the brute down at 4:20. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W8Qz9ah8cKQ)

I loved the push too, acting like it was just another kill, instead of a life or death situation.

I think you'd be surprised. Now I'm not saying that those exact moves would work, but there are so many techniques that seem like the same "fantasy elegance" that work, with science to prove it.

You should see some of the stuff Aikido Blackbelts can do. It's insane. I've done drills with one before and he was able to somersault me flat on my back with one hand on my wrist. Like some of Ezio's moves, that would take extraordinary precision to do properly. Of course, an <STRIKE>elegant</STRIKE> eloquent fighting style should demand great precision.

the way i see Ezio fight is more of a joint fighting,
when he fist fight he locks he's enemy's arms so it's hard for them to move and he maneuvers through to attack.

but weapons i see it as "elegant"

u mean the release trailer where Ezio passed down the spear from the guard he just flung on the floor?

He's talking about the demo clip someone posted earlier. Before killing Carlo, you fight his three bodyguards. Ezio disarms the last one, chops him with his own axe and pushes him to the ground with a really gentle shove, almost as if poking him to make him fall over. It was hilariously badass.

I second that from experience. Proper technique can go a lot farther than raw strength; in keeping with the game though, I think his fighting style is... well I really don't know. I'm still <STRIKE> waiting for the point-blank execution shot with the firearm</STRIKE> waiting to see more of it.

Oh my god, YES! That would be AMAZING! Why didn't I think of that? Imagine how sick that would be as a counter attack. (Guard swings, Ezio evades and just slaps/shoots him in the FACE! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif)

I think Ezio's fighting style kicks ***. I really like the variety compared to Altair's and I really like this 'elegance' it gives him character and makes him different, it also makes him look more sophisticated. And of course hes going to be elegant, hes a Florentine Nobel.

I can imagine Giovanni advising Ezio before his first duel...

Giovanni: Remember, my son; you cannot simply defeat your enemy, you have to look good doing it. That way, chicks will dig you.
