Well i do know as a fact that the US sent alot of destoryers to the british as supplys to replace the destroyers that were lossed. So i dont find it odd to spot a American built destroyer before America enters the war.

SH3 Commander sometimes issues U.S names to ships although they had UK flags. Some kind of glitch I guess.

The U.S. gave British a bunch of destroyers through the lend/lease program well before the U.S. entered the war. They also provided convoy escort duties starting in 1940 even though they were supposed to be neutral.

Sold the British (junk) destroyers at extremly high prices http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif war profiteering! Not nice.

There should not be a US Clemson in that grid unless he got very lost!!

Later on america started escorting ships to mid atlantic and near to iceland sometimes for the handover to British fleets. I think they sometimes travelled unescorted too sometimes, unless im remembering wrong. Unescorted as far as mid atlantic and then they were picked up by escorts for the final 1/3rd of the journey. The game allows them to escort ships right into port early on though which is a glitch. Thats the standard game, i dont know about the ones people have modded, i guess they are better!

Well they were basically free (Lend Lease). It was a swindle to get a around the Neutrality Act and get destroyers to the UK. The important thing was not the destroyers but the model it created before the US entered the war to begin shipping large war stocks to Britain. Britian did allow the US the use of British bases, which also enabled the US to aid Britain by taking over some patrol and escort duties for them.

Exactly Snuffy, 99 year base leases were the price. I was just hoping the previous poster might attempt to explain his misguided war profiteering statement.
