There are 2 Falke SF25Cs that I fly in the course of my training - one with the radio-codename D-KBUX and another one with the codename OE-9480. The first is only sporadically equipped: One altimeter (in feet http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif), turn and bank indicator, speed gauge, variometer...
The OE-9480 is much better equipped! It foremost has 2 altimeters - one in feet (again http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif) that's for ASL (depending on QNH) and one in meters (hipp hipp hooray http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif) that's for AGL. You might not think it that important but it saves you converting feet to meters and subtracting the ASL height of the airfield during the landing approach. With the 2nd gauge I can just take a look - okay, 200m above ground in my landing turn, everything's okay! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Nice.... This is what I drove while I was in the Army and about ten years after. Now, just a mundane '94 Taurus. Trying to win the lottery so I can get a new GT and a rig to play this game without stutters....

I drive a very boring 2003 Corolla. :P

I had a temporary job (one year) a few years back that involved flying up and down the British Columbia coast in a Beechcraft 1900C every week... now that was a nice commute!

(Hoping I get a job like that again)...

Not actually a picture of mine cause I have mine stored at a bodyshop for the winter.
but add painted louvres on the rear window and its pretty close.

Mine was built in the last 2 weeks of production of the IROC series.
Right now we are looking for any cars like it made after it was built..
Theres a real good chance mine was the Last Black 5 speed with that specific performace package.

some of you guys here, are lucky to live in the countries wher your work is prized with good salary...and for the same work (same good and hard work i would say) some of us are poorly "awarded" because of the economic situation in the country...wars, politics and politic heritage etc......Im lucky to have a decent job and salary (for our conditions here) but thats only "a few coins" for some of you guys (spec. from west EU countries, US, CA, etc)....Im driving used Toyota Corolla (2004.) which i purchased with the great help of my father who sold his big apartment and went to live in the cottage (nice big house which he raised when he was working in Africa and Russia as construct. eng.)..

but I found myself lucky to have a nice girlfriend (now wife) a place to live and a decent car (for our conditions)...i dont need more..at least we have a country with beutiful coast and islands, with natural and tasty food and water which we dont need to buy in the local store (for now)....

Yup it's a 1976 Spitfire, the first car I bought. Since I'll never fly one, I might as well drive one! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Rearend is terrible for rust on these cars, but this one is pretty well clean as far as that goes. The last guy tried brazing the fenders and doors with patches halfway up the metal which distorted it like crazy. The picture is after I cleaned most of the Bondo out. I literally chiselled body filler 3/4 of an inch thick out of the rear fender. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

You dont see many about these days, saying that a friend at work has one, I will take you some pictures then next fine day he brings it into work (its his second car) Yes a lot of out older cars are coming back from the likes of california as the climate there is more kind to them, a lot of the UK ones having succumbed to the dreaded tin worm... saying that though, the Export ones were apparently sanitized to meet your emmisions requirements, you might find this site of interest

Hey Loco, they didn't allow the Metroliner on the UK register for ages here, apparently if you sit down the as-s end you can see the thing flexing side to side at the front.. although the likes of Air Frantic operate a couple now...

Nice pictures, but the background behind the Miata grabbed me, you have a company called Jiffy Lube in the States?

The mind Boggles what they make...........

The Uk term " I'll be out in a Jiffy" takes on a whole new meaning..

Jiffy€¦ http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

To do something or get somewhere "in a jiffy", meaning to get there quickly or to do a task expediently. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

This is the one I like€¦

The Oxford English Dictionary says "Origin unascertained". The earliest use it gives is from Munchhausen's Travels (1785): "In six jiffies I found myself and all my retinue . . . at the rock of Gibralter [sic]". http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif I'm told that the term was taken into the scientific community late in the 20th century and was actually applied as a unit of time; however the unit seems to vary from discipline to discipline!

A 'jiffi' or 'jiffy' is the time it takes LIGHT to traverse the distance of 1 centimeter (33.3 pico seconds = 0.000,000,000,033,300 seconds). 1 light - cm is pretty quick !! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

Taylortony, I'll add that to my list of terms that didn't make it across the Atlantic intact (including "rubber","chips" and several others that are considered rude on one side or the other.) They're an automobile oil change service chain here in the 'States, along with Valvoline and Express Oil Change.

I fly Cessna 152's, 172's PA- 161's and whatever other type of aircraft I can rent, borrow and share time with another pilot. (FYI- it is a 1974 DeTomaso Pantera running the mid- engine configuration of a Ford 351 Cleveland with only 750HP and horizontal stock Alpine radio.

Note: I used to drive a 98 POS green Saturn, don't ever buy one.

I don't say "restoration" because what I did to that car hardly counted as a concours finish.

WOW!There are TWO DeTomaso Pantera owners on these boards!!!As a 70s/80s/ child these are pretty iconic to me.Alas my current 'ride' an 899cc 39bhp Fiat Cinquecento '97 isnt quite as evocative (With links to the motor trade I change my cars VERY often )but it gives me a warm feeling inside to think Im doing an 80mile round trip daily in a 450 euro(300Stg/500US$)car-sure my X800XT was dearer! In Ireland on the little twisty country lanes small cars are so much more fun.Suzuki Cappuccino and MX5(Miata ) were a blast!!!Had 149 (digital dash converts at flick of a switch between mph and kmph-maybe I shouldnt say which!!!)on the clock of my Kadett GSi 16v 'back in the day'(with loads more power on tap -but Motorway 'straights' get very twisty at that speed!)Of course with policing nowadays thats just a distant memory....

@gates123,
I'm surprized to see a CR500AF here! I didn't know Service Honda actually sold many of them. Hardly anyone has heard of them, so I never thought I'd ever run into anyone that owned one. I'm a died-in-the-wool open class 2-stroke nut, but I ride a less-than-open-class '79 YZ125. However, a riding buddy of mine has an '83 YZ490 that he lets me ride from time to time.

I don't have a lot of specific knowledge on Panteras, but I do know a thing or two about Ford 351C engines. I'd have to hear some cam, compression, head, and induction specs before I believe anything more than 450hp is possible out of a naturally-aspirated 351C.

This is someone else's picture of the same car I drive:
http://www.70-81.com/81bluezfull10.jpg
1981 Camaro Z28

The paint on my car is a bit rougher-looking than this one, but same color, same wheels, etc.

My car has a 1962 327ci V-8 putting out around 340hp. It's followed by a close-ratio 4-speed manual. I've been getting 15mpg as of late, but I've had over 20mpg out of this engine before. I'm working on carb tuning and ignition curves to get the mpg back up there.

I also ride a '98 Triumph Thunderbird Sport

885cc, 6-speed, 82hp

It is indeed the First (Badgerline) Bus Station. The efforts the 1960's architect put into matching the bus station with the rest of Bath is truely iconic.

It turns out that I won't be driving buses this year, because whoever processed my application didn't notice the "Occupation: Full-Time Student" section, and proceeded to invite me to an interview for a job that requires ~3-weeks full-time training.
