Ihave to say after hours of frustration, the control of Enzio, esp the cutaway scenes, example: inside tombs looking for seals, and trying to make jumps etc , where you are no longer using forward backward, side, etc, normally are the DUMBEST, idea I have ever scene. Not sure you who thought of this idea in the programmers/designers, but you REALLY destroyed the game play when you take what is known, and autoreverse normal movement that way, it makes the missions hear impossible to complete. Disgusted is the simplest word I could use to describe this in a game, it totally ruins it. Get your head out of your rear's and REMOVE this from any further game play in the AC 3, because if you keep it, I wont be buying it, and I certainly will tell as many as I can not too, via Facebook and other social networks. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

Wow! You think Ubi is going to remove a unique and pretty good control system just because you suck at the controls and you won't buy AC3?

Whatever will they do without your one sale? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

In case you haven't noticed, a lot of people like the controls as they are and the puppet concept is one of many things that has defined this game!

Personally I love the controls. I can see where you're coming from with the changing directional control in the tombs but if you just take your time and don't rush to the point of hitting wrong buttons in a panic, its fine, even too easy tbh. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Actually, I agree whole-heatedly with the OP.

I fully realize that this game's controls on XB360 are probably more or less, right on the money, but on the PC, for me, they are a complete utter nightmare; and this is putting it nicely.

You have to imagine for a moment, if a game was extremely difficult to control the camera and movement of a characters, how overwhelmingly frustrating it would be to do the simplest things. And the first mission they give you is a race against your brother.

First, (even at 10/10 sensitivity) I can flail the mouse from one side of my desk to the other, and Ezio will only move his perspective about 20-30 degrees to the side. So much movement for so little result on screen.

This is the core problem to all of the game's control issues. In the end, you get the feeling Ezio is suicidal because even though you tell him to jump forward towards a ledge that is in range, he jumps 45 degrees to the side, almost to his death and ALWAYS on top of a bunch of guards.

In my 25+ years of gaming, I have to say that this is far and above the single worst PC game control scheme I've ever seen for a game. It was a complete port, and not a thing was done to develop it FOR the PC.

Those Quick Time Events (QTE - when you have to press a button in a certain time) are frustrating. If I map my OPEN HAND to 'E' it should show E, not a color coded symbol like a console user is used to.

There's a myriad of other camera/control issues I won't bore you guys with, but the OP's complaint is very valid. It is because of this game that I'm finished with Ubisoft products. I only paid $22 for this item, but it wasn't even worth that; I see that Ubisoft is placated with the thought of giving PC user's hand me downs, and it's just too disrespect of a business practice for me to continue any form of patronage with.

As it stands, Ubisoft has potential to be a great PC developer, but their implementation makes them a laughing stock within that community. They just don't value the market/community like they do the console; and I merely ask that they stop developing for a platform that they don't care to properly support.

Sorry for the dissertation, but this game has caused me nothing but grief; and over something that was, previous to this date, taken for granted to be a core aspect of game development that was crucial to nail down before you release a product to sale.

...

I won't quote your whole post, but i totally agree.
I play on PC using a keyboard and mouse. It makes me so angry when i read/hear comments about 'just using a controller'.
I don't have one, and i won't! I have a PC, and i choose to play on it, and i damn well don't intend to spend anymore of my money just so i can play a game that is being sold as playable on PC!
My PC is used for everything, and i niether have the money nor the desire to buy a console or a controller. And i shouldn't have to either to enjoy a game.

And yes, i totally agree with you about what pops up on screen telling you to press 'whatever'.
Because it's always some controller button that i have no idea what that means. So i have to stop, think about what key corresponds to what action on my keyboard so i can then carry out the action.
Just makes it that much harder, and it should not be. And gets even more interesting in action (fight/running) scenes.

You guys may think we're winging, but walk a few hours in our shoes and you'll change your minds.

I'm not going to say the game is unplayable. I'm not even going to say it's terrible. But it's the principle of the thing, and it's downright annoying, and we shouldn't be asked to put up with it.

Just shows a total disregard (once again) by Ubi for PC players.
