I used to wonder about Banzai, too. I haven't heard good things about it here. Here is just one thread.... http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/26310365/m/4441013923

Check out what Plus Wave is developing. It may be worth it. Time will tell.

Do not believe what you hear. Probably is not as bad as they say. Any Pacific theme or product get more bad publicity than deserve.

I have not heard as many criticize of Babarossa or any of other addona as I heard for this one.

This other addons are avearge and I"am still happy to have them.

So buy it and find out for your self.

All the X1 Software add-ons are available as a physical package in Europe only, I believe (well, I haven't seen them outside there anyway - they're a German company).

They mostly sell their add-ons through Matrix Games, a Digital River style commercial software download site. You register for an account, purchase the games, then get authorised to download them. www.matrixgames.com (http://www.matrixgames.com)

As to Banzai, I've heard quite a few bad things about it, and to be honest at only 300 dynamic missions and 10 or so skins, it doesn't sound like it's really worth the money when Bird_Brain, Extreme_One, Dubbo, etc are producing top quality stuff for free.

However, I bought the Case Blue (Das Fall Blau) expansion from X1, which contains approx 800 static missions, all of which are also available to be played co-op. I'm enjoying that one immensely.

Also, The Last Days is very good - the objects layout in the mission templates is incredibly detailed (slower machines won't be able to handle it), and there are a multitude of dynamic campaigns, and approx 400 skins that come with this add-on. I reckon that's worth paying $25 for. It's pretty light-on for multiplayer, though - a smattering of co-ops (and they forgot to translate the briefings into english) and 4 dogfight missions.

The PlusWave expansions look good, but they look to have a similar performance hit to TLD. (I know both teams say their object placements don't translate into performance hit, it's trees etc - but I can play on the Lvov map with 30+ fps normally, in TLD I'm below 10 fps.)

Anyway, after I've upgraded my PC I'll pick up the one PlusWave expansion that's already out and see about doing a proper review.

JunkoIfurita, what system do you have now? I want to get The Last Days, too. And, the Plus Wave stuff look interesting. But, slow frame rates look to be in my future.

25+ 4-engine bomber groups or AAA from ships slows my machine down imensely. The AAA is twice as bad as the bomber groups.

I have:
AMD Athlon 2400XP+ (2GHz)
1 Gig of RAM
nVidia 5500FX w, 128 Meg of RAM

CD_TOASTER here is another site that is selling a addon for the Pacific Merge program.I wonder why Junkolfurita did not give this information.

I guess some people are simply Bias. I recommend that you fly for all the Air forces avalable and for you to read as much about World two as possible.

The more you know about this war the more you will enjoy this wonderful Sim.

Fly in all theaters of war as world war two was a global war and not just a European conflict.

Here is the address:

Enjoy it

From your link:

"Pacific Fighters: Banzai! is an expansion featuring new aircraft, 320 single-player missions, and more than 100 multiplayer missions."

new aircraft only if you consider an old aircraft with new skin as a new one. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Banzai is fantastic. The RAAF pilot career is awesome. And all those missions are available in single mission. They can also be changed over to coops. There are some great DF maps. The biggest beef I have with Banzai is that theu carriers are static, which makes it near impossible to take off from. I have went into FMB and fixed these pretty easily though. But I shouldn't have to. I emailed the creator and let him know how lame this was. But this is the only thing that I see going against it. I have truly enjoyed all the online content with my squadm8s.

There is a patch at the x-software side to fix it. So the creator read your email and took it serious.
