A CAF Beech C-45 crashed today in Colorado (http://www.kltv.com/Global/story.asp?S=6813265&nav=1TjD),luckily the only deaths were the plane, which burned badly(saw a clip on TV).

I saw it on the news earlier.

If it were a more popular (sexy) model. I could imagine that it may be rebuilt despite the damage. But I thing she is a goner.

No!!!! I work down the road from Love Field in Dallas,Tx and have seen that aircraft on a number of ocassions. Looks like a total loss. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif Very sad indeed. I've noticed someone has been flying a shiny Lockheed Electra in and out of the field lately. Even saw it at night with blue flames coming out of the exhaust pipes. Hope they are careful with her. Every time we lose one we also lose a piece of history.

I agree with you 100%! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

The Coup de Grace that makes this on really sad,is,if I'm not mistaken, this is the C-45 they'd sell 30 min. rides in for $25-and if you were lucky, you'd get the co-pilot's seat.

They had it configured to haul 5-7 people, and would run her for hours, giving many folks the chance to experience something wonderful, very cheaply.Even if hauling 7,that's only $175 for a 30 min. flight.Between fuel/maintenance they had to be making almost nothing,or losing money.
Keeping the old girls up AIN'T cheap as you all know.
