I was watching a kids program the other day,as you do, and one of the presenter was taken for a ride in a spitfire. He apparently has a pilots license but within minutes was reaching for a sick bag. I guess I underestimate the power and Gs these things produce although I SHOULD know better from seeing the speeds they produce in these sims I guess.

Trying to teach history in a fun way I imagine. Hell, I would have been glued to the tv had I seen that as a kid. I don't think anything could have got me off the couch. Well, except for the dreaded belt strap http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.

Yeah, these things were regular air-screwed rockets without rocket engines of course http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

But I really do think - and always will - that these AC really were the pinnacle of combustion engine technology. Yeah, you've got your F1s and everything now, but who cares?

They used to pull so much G they blacked out, so we are talking about 7G there.......... That apparently was what made Bader so good, Might sound stupid but having no legs was an advantage, Blood rushes to your legs away from the brain and you pass out, having no legs and therefore preventing the blood rushing away from the brain as much made him able to stand higher G forces that put the average man to sleep....... The man that does not have a nap in combat wins................

We are talking about 4 G, and 7 G with a G-suit. the thing with airplanes is that even 2 G makes you feel dizzy after a while. A roller coaster however can give you up to 5-6 G without making you dizzy. the reason is 30-40 seconds of 2 G is much worse then 5 G in 8 seconds. Even the smalest plane can make you feel sick. Not me though.
