absolutely impressive, I don't have words. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

BBC always produce historically state of art reconstitution series.

when I saw the seven wonders of the industrial world series in the HC, it was like I was there. can say the same about this Lancaster mission reconstitution.

It's not a series but a compilation of documentary clips/film footage etc. made by the person who uploaded them - "auldm".

If it's any help Leitmotiv he is also a member on these boards as "mauld" if you want to PM him. You can click on his username in this (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/2801026336?r=6791069336#6791069336) thread. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

***** spoiler below *****

the scene where the crew member lost part of his leg to fire from the figther is horrible.

at same time, we have the German civilians wich where burned and blow up by the bombers payload.

I like to see this kind of scene (not for the suffering) to open my eyes of how horrible war is.

look the lancaster and it's crew (I love their fligth gears) may be very cool from one side, but for another...

Many thanks for the information, Schwarz.13. They are not only remarkable recreations but superb film-making. Thoroughly professional, great editing. "Mauld" has my highest congratulations. I hope they make a complete film.

Hi all,

I'm sure that the Lancaster 'Just Jane' was used in the making of these films. It is on display in Lincoln,England and has the ability to taxi but not fly.

It is possible to to take a ride in this aircraft as it taxies for a fee.

Here's a couple of links:

'Hanglands' who used to be on this forum posted a video of his experience in this aircraft as it taxied.

Hi Wildnoob,

As you can see from my Avatar, I am wearing a 'Type C' RAF flight helmet with Mk. VIII goggles and and 'Type G' oxygen mask. All are WW2 RAF issue and from my collection.

But the Luftwaffe had better flight clothing!!

Great clips Avro! When you see the casualty rates for Bomber Command it's quite sobering.

Ah yes! If WWII had been a fashion contest the Germans surely would have won!

Talking about fashion... (I knows its O.T. but.... my wifes getting us into making fancy dress ups for parties! Anyone know where I can get a pattern for a RAF Service Dress jacket and pants?

Was it as functional? The Allies had things such as electrically heated suits (the blue 'bunny suit'). On cold days waiting for a bus I wish there was a modern version!

You mean the one the pilots refused to wear?

On the Janes WWII fighters game (my reference for all things WWII aviation http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ) there is a US P38 pilot that said in his interview the only thing it heated up was your bottom and none of the pilots would wear it because if they got shot down they did want to be captured wearing pyjamas!
