Hello!
Does any one of you have any news about the WW2 RTS game formerly known as "Wartime Command"? The official webpage haven`t got any news at all, it only states a few facts about the game and tell us that the game will be released Q1 2006.

I only fairly recently got into the whole RTS thing via a great Napoleonic era game called 'Imperial Glory'.Alas I have been unable to find a WW2 (or WW1-for God sakes dont go near 'Entente'!)based RTS anywhere near its standard of graphics(gameplay?)DDay and Frontline Command are OK but not really in the same league.So I think Ive tried most of the rest out in case Ive missed any ,do you guys have any reccomendations?Codename Panzers is- just- ok too I suppose-didnt like Bliztkrieg or Stalingrad and certainly not into anything turn based...Shame this game is not gonna be produced(?)

Yeah dosn't have quite the same look to it does it ? I think the origional idea would have been quite good and I think might even have proved usefull to the movie community to provide some much needed ground forces scenes.

Oh well

WW2RTS is still being worked on by 1C. And as far as I know they are not going to drop it.

Besides this game there is another, very similar one in concept, being made in Ukraine (and very close to the release to my knowlege):

That is good news. I thought the thing'd been canned. Beats tuna, that's for sure.

Let us keep both fingers and toes crossed that this game really will see daylight. I can`t really wait for a war game developed using the Sturmovik game engine http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/34.gif

I just read the article. Looks good but the absence of a mission editor is really going to limit the appeal of the game.

I'm still going to buy it though. I blew the dust off Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord yesterdat and while the graphics are juvenile the game is fantastic. Hopefully this 1C creation will be everything Combat Mission wasn't.

page 2::
WG: Will the game ship with one or more campaigns and, if so, are they dynamic or a series of successive set-piece missions?

DP: We plan to have several independent campaigns which cover the whole period of World War II.

* Polish campaign 1939
* French campaign 1940
* East Front 1941-1945
* West Front 1943 €" 1945
* German campaign 1939 €" 1945

Perhaps there will be Single Missions as well.

"Static" or "Dynamic" campaigns were talked about on the old board and so plans may have been changed, but the list given indicates not. The campaigns are a series of set-piece missions, although -- if I recall correctly and I may not -- in each mission within a static campaign, the player may have some additional or less starting equipment (including captured enemy equipment) depending on the player's performance in a previous battle or "mission" within a campaign.

The campaigns are "static." The outcome of each campaign beyond the player's 1km playable map is known at the start. Thus, the exact outcome of the war is known as early as 1939, every time.

Also, the maps are 1km squares -- ie... "dogfight" maps. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif I would trade small Fancy Maps for map size, and that's exactly what I do in the flight sim StrikeFighters which offers 1000km maps, and I can make my own beautiful maps with high elevation terrain possible using satellite data thanks to the Publisher's map making tool. Simple but titanic in size, and stunningly beautiful if textured correctly (a major pitfall for map makers).
