Then have him speak in a monotone generic American accent.

you do realize that if your name originates from a certain country/language you don't automatically have an accent from there right?

Altair's voice acting is so horrendous in AC1 it was almost unbearable. Yes yes, I have seen all of the "but it's actually Desmond acting THROUGH Altair" arguments and to be frank I couldn't care less. The idea of sacrificing a good vocal performance for some mediocre story continuity is absurd. Altair was very.... Anakin-ish to me.

Despite the American accent (which makes since if it was Desmond) I really like Altair's voice.
Actually, he had the sexiest voice I have ever heard. lol XD
I hope the seductive, smooth-talking Ezio has the voice too http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Altair's voice wasn't that bad. Could have been better, but I think I've gotten used to it by this point.

Not that the whole world needs an American accent, but I don't really think it is imperative to have an accent for wherever you hail from... I dunno. I find accents more difficult to listen to...

You're acting like an American accent is somehow the "neutral" accent in the world.

It kinda seems relative. Your own accent is the "normal" one for you until yours is referred to as being different. It was a shock when I discovered there was such thing as an "American accent." http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif Sometimes, people even say I have a Southern accent, though I haven't been able to notice it.

Also, the thing with the American accent...it's like why Alta´r has Desmond's face. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I already said "Not that the whole world needs an American accent"

>_> Though American accents vary... I'd probably beat something to death if Altair sounded like a Californian surfer...

and what do you have against californians http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

lol there are so many steryotypes to californians its insane, some people think all californians are surfers, some think we're all ********ers, others think we're all homosexual, take your pick.... and by the way im none of these lol

A lot of people often ask me if I have some sort of accent cause of the way i talk ever now and again (like, I'm really good at the Norwegian accent XD)
But i guess that what happens when you grow up in a household where every one has Spanish accents (and you grandma doesn't teach you spanish) and have as mixed of a heritage as I do.

I am Californian! And Altair definitely isn't a surfer (considering he can't swim http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif )

Some of the things said about Louisianans (particularly New Orleanians such as I) still make me cringe. :<

But *ON-TOPIC (I guess?)* I liked Alta´r's growl. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif I guess we'll have to see with Ezio. I don't remember off the top of my head what an Italian accent would sound like...then again, Ezio is supposedly quite a charmer, so whatever works. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

I just heard the most terrifying thing that I have ever heard in my head.

Altair saying "dude". I cring/lol'd o_O

@ outlaw: socal or Norcal? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif (can you tell which I prefer? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif )

I'm more used to the "Californian's are all blonde-haired, blue-eyed, and tan" stereotype. and I'm... the opposite of all that. o_O sheesh

@ believe01: What do you consider as "generic American accent"? Which accent, from which part of the country? >_>

While you guarantee that, I guarantee you that Ubisoft will get the same voice actor.

Some people are just too hopeful.

I think they are gonna keep the same voice actor. If they needs him to speak Italian, they are just gonna give him Italian lines and tell him to learn how to speak them in fluid Italian.

he'll be like,
"i'l assin nake uo" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

or he can have an Arnoid scwaghtanagar (ahah i can't spell Austrian last names)
ahah

nah. but seriousely, i wouldn't mind with any accent , just atleast it understanable, and sometimes funny to laugh at http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Maybe they'll hire some other actor to do Ezio's VA.

I can assure you that an American speaking with the Florence accent would be the funniest thing ever!!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Florence is where Italian language originated (with Dante Alighieri and its Divina Commedia). The problem is that in Tuscany they speak in a very bizarre way. Many comedians are from there indeed (like Roberto Benigni, director and main actor of "La vita Ŕ bella" for whom remembers that).

Lots of people wanted to see Altair in the second game... so I'd think that the same Altair look and voice but just in a new Era. That would be nice.

I really don't see why so many people would love to stick with Altair. After all Altair looks like Desmond. It's just his americn accent that didn't fit at all with the story. He sounded like Snake!! All the others at least made an effort to speak with an arabic accent.

revoltingbunny
04-17-2009, 09:41 AM
Lucy said she could make it more authentic for him... so him talking with an American accent is for Desmond to understand... And people would like to stick with Altair seeing that he's Awsome... personally... I liked his voice.

It was perhaps the worst voice-casting i have ever heard on a gam i've owned, i really didn't expect him to say much at all, as an assasin, but then obviously he's in the brotherhood and interogates etc, so thats okay but the voice was horrible they coulodn't even guess how he might talk and used an american accent

revoltingbunny

"Stay your tongue boy." Now then... I still find the voice cast awsome... you don't... we're diffirent... something good... Shhhhhhhh.

I find it odd that some people think the voice acting was bad.
I'm not sure if the game won any awards for it, but a many reviews on the game claimed in had "compelling" voice acting.

Not Altair for sure. IGN reviewer just killed Altair voice acting. The cast was perfect instead.

Yeah, Altair didn't have the most realistic voice (which is odd since is voice actor WAS Arabic) but he still had a smex voice http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif
