The Compass is easy to find and read in the German planes, but it's another story for those Russian planes. The exemple on the IL2 instrumentation paper didn't help me. Could you tell me where I can find the compass on the IL2 and Yak? Thanks

It's easy to find in the IL2's and Yak's too. Top centre.

Unfortunately, seeing is a different story. On any aircraft fitted with a reflector sight, the base of the sight obscures the compass.

Then what can I do to find my way effectively with the Russian planes? That compass is hard to read!

You will be forced to use the speed bar (better learn your coordinates) or the mini map. It's frustrating, w/ all the beautiful cockpits that some of the gauges are not clear. But you've just stumbled on one of the LW's big advantages over the VVS, instrumentation. The only VVS AC that has good gauges is the IL2.

"Oh bliss, bliss and heaven. Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeosity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest spun heaven metal, or like silvery wine flowing in a space ship, gravity all nonsense now. As I slooshied I knew such lovely pictures."

Fly with speedbar on (the red numbers in the lower left of the screen) in difficulty settings, but set a key in control assignments to "Toggle Speedbar". That way you can read your heading from the speed bar when you need to navigate, but can switch it off with single keystroke so it's not staring you in the face for the whole flight.
