Hi all,
Im new to Pacific fighters, but am far from new to Flight sims. I have been flying Falcon4 for 5 or so years and have recently tried LO:MAC.
Anyway, is there a thread anywhere that explains what the patches etc give? I see 3.02 and 3.03 and an upcoming 3.04 patches but what do they add? Is it best to stick with simple PF, or upgrade straight away?
Thanks very much for the help, and am looking forward to flying a great WWII sim!!

Salute, Amraam1!

IMHO you can upgrade with confidence right away with the 3.03 patch. That's all you'll need for now after installing PF out of the box. Yes, 3.04 is due out one of these days...but the time frame is unsure...and the patches do fix some minor "bugs" and also add some nice features.

Also, if you don't already have it, go out and purchase Forgotten Battles: Ace Expansion Pack and do the full "merged" installation of Pacific Fighters on top of this. Then you'll have literally hundreds of flyable aircraft as well as both the European and Pacific theaters of operations in WWII.

It's an incredible sim...you won't be disappointed.

Welcome!

That should be get Forgotten Battles and Forgotten Battles : Ace Expansion Pack - AEP on it's own isn't enough. Ideally in the Gold Pack (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00018RR6G/qid=1105548798/sr=8-3/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i3_xgl65/102-6843418-3749722?v=glance&s=software&n=507846).

There's seven CDs worth of content in the full merged product and if you enjoy online play, it's pretty much the only way to fly. It's very busy at the moment, over a thousand players most nights split across the various gaming services so games aren't hard to come by with the full installation.

However, Pacific Fighters on it's own is a lot of fun for the time being and there are lots of user created missions and stuff to play around with. There's at least one dedicated server out there too for the stand-alone product.

Thanks a lot for the responses guys, really appreciated.
After flying F4 for 5 years, patches certainly aren't new lol. But I really look forward to flying this.
So if I were to do the full dance, I would have to install:
IL2:FB
IL2:FB:AEP
PF
PF patch 3.03
Is that correct?
How much is FB these days? Is it still in the shops? (Sorry, Im used to not seeing Falcon in the shops)

Thanks again

Salute, Amraam1!

Yep, you got it.

As for availability, you should be able to find the "Gold Package" in stores. I know that my local Best Buy still has some on sale for $29.99 U.S., right alongside Pacific Fighters.

(And thanks to Spinner for clarifying my earlier post. Yes, you want to pick up the "Gold Package"...that's where I started with this game back in April http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif. I doubt you can even find the original Forgotten Battles in a store nowadays, unless it's buried in a discount rack somewhere.)
