Just wondering if there is any news on patching out the DRM? I am getting ready to head out on deployment and wont have any internet connectivity on my laptop. I really want to be able to continue to enjoy AC2.

Nope, and probably won't disable it for some time. Probably won't disable it even when the community can prove there is a working crack to bypass the DRM without losing any aspect of gameplay.

...Isn't there anything else to do on deployment than play a computer game? Lets say... Patrols, guard duty, digging a trench, driving a tank while listening mp3's, throwing little puppies to a canyon..? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

dont expect the DRM to be removed any time soon, as long as it is stopping the pirates the chances of them removing it is next to none.

but even so this DRM is still going in new games that are not yet out, so you should assume it is here to stay.

There's no way to play the game without an internet connection at this moment. An unofficial solution might be acquirable in time, but Ubisoft themselves will however either wait with adding an offline-option till the day pigs have been genetically modified in such a way that they're able to fly.

Not everyone is a bullet sponge. I get to go sit out on a ship for 6 months. 12 hours of work, then I have 12 hours off, only need to sleep for 7-8 so that gives me some free time. I really hate this new trend. Guess future purchases will have to wait until they patch out the DRM on the games.

I feel ya. My friend is in the navy here where I live, and he received Silent Hunter 5 as a gift. Pretty useless gift to him. Bag of poop is more useful, because it can be used as a fertilizer. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

He is willing to exchange the game to a beer he owes me. I am thinking about which is more valuable.

Ya, I think I should. It is consumable, but at least it tastes good, I get a good feeling and I can drink it even if I don't have a constant internet connection.
