For me the big BOB questions is ?

Does the new graphics engine for BOB use OpenGL, DirectX 9 or just plain DirectX 8 ?

And if it is OpenGL or DirectX 9 does it use Pixel Shaders 2.0 or maybe 3.0 ?

Hopefully I'll be running an Athlon FX on Win 64 by then.
Oh, and something to replace my GeForce 4 MX 440/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

From what you have been answering to my question to what
the new BOB graphics engine will most likely use, which by
the way was done by not so many of you simmers out there,
I think it will be DirectX 9 so if you are buying a new
graphics card this autumn you better buy an ATI 9800XT or
wait a little for the R420 because these are for now most
decently the DirectX 9 cards of choice.

An other very big question is will the BOB game engine
support the 64 bits processors such as the now available
AMD Athlon 64 FX or the maybe in the not so far future
coming Intell Prescott with Yamhill 64 bits technology.

im guessing open gl 2.0, or sumthing similar open gl tends to go years before needin an update, also currently il2 is based off open gl now with direct X as a wrapper and all the special effects like water is in open gl only so im guessing they wont change from open gl as its what they know and its better than dx.

Release data in 2005?Actually it's very close, only 2 years! Development probably has started and only DX9 is availabe so far....it will be first DX9 based sim!

If it could be made WineX compatible in the absence of
a Linux version that would be nice, whatever the native
graphics API actually is. Currently Aces High is about
the only Flight Sim I can get to run reliably in WineX
(if not online) and I get slightly better FPS under
WineX (although I haven't reinstalled WineX since I had
to replace a disk).

If the game comes out early 2005, it could be only 15 months away - sounds better than two years . . .

I'm thinking maybe by Christmas 2005 if I was a marketeer.

I might as well start saving for an upgraded graphics card, right now. Heck, even a new mainboard might be a good idea if they are releasing a 64-bit optimized version (which will probably be the case).
