Not at all complaining/whining here, just trying to figure out Maddox1C's logic in plane selections in FB. I have been reading up on Finnish war history and plane stats and saw how basically, the Hurricane Mk1 did not figure into Finlands success much. It was almost a no-show. The total tally of Hurricanes bought was only 10 and they didn't even get all of those if I read it right. Also they only got 5 and 1/2 kills the entire war to a loss of 2 Hurris, which is not all that great. Even the Bristol Bulldog got six kills. The Morane is not flyable and got 91 kills in the war. We don't even have a Fokker D.XXI or Gloster Gladiator Mk.II at all, and they got 191 and 46 kills respectively, making them vastly more important than the Hurricanes. It looks like we won't get the Moranes, as nobody is working on cockpits and I think the D.XXI and Gladiators were dropped by the modellers that were working on them. Too bad we can't fly a more relevant Finnish campaign. I guess more people want the "sexier" planes, even if most of those were not a factor in the eastern front. By the way, my source was:

I didn't know it.

Anyway, you'll get a wonderful flyable Galdiator with the forthcoming pay add-on.

Because of high demand for play in many campaigns and can use in many nationals. Oleg though it will be more popular and sell well in world market. I agree with you that we should have other plane like Fokker XXI that saw lot of combat in first year of Winter War. Also B-239 are much more fun to play as it was so famous in FAF in whole campaigns.

They didn't drop the Gladiator. It is being readied flyable even as we speak (except for the national Russian holidays)

And we got the Russian Hurricanes so, it was very simple to implement the finnish one too. AND it made real BoB missions possbile. The BoB was won with Hurricane's Mk I. Not MkIIb or c or the spitfire's. It was the Hurricane all along.

It was of course not Mr Olegs idea mainly to equip the finn side but the russian. They had hurricanes ( and spitfires), thats why.

you can fly the Hurricanes for the Finnish army. after you click "Generate" it will ask you then to pick a year and a plane, whether its a Blenhiem or a 109, if you click on the aircraft model it will bring up a selection list and ask you what plane you want, then you'll see the 38' model Hurricane. but goodluck on those missions, they're damn near impossible to complete. you might have fun if you setup the difficulty to invulnerable../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

they put that plane because it was easy to model as other models were included, so they thought why not.

Deathsledge, what are you talking about?? I see no post where any of us think that the Finnish can't be flown.
I'm flying a campaign in it now. Also, it's no longer hard to fight in it, as I even have campaigns set to hard in my conf.ini file. You might not have tried a career in it since 1.11, as it's much easier to survive in it now. I have even been able to down six I-16s!!!! Much more effective these days.

Pity about the Moranes. Having them flyable would be very cool.

It got a bit easier now. Since 1.2beta the I-16 damage model has been fixed a bit and they are now easier to gun down.

Just because they did not receive that many kills does not mean they were not used.. I think im glad it was included in the game for Finns.. and BTW there were few captured hurricans also, such as MKIIB which was used successfully against it's previous owners..

Why a finn hurricane? cause its a minor change to the exterior model to make it from other models included. Cockpit is no different from the other hurricanes and that saves alot of trouble. The Fokker didnt get included because the 3rd party guy who was making it at the time fell through on his promise to actually make it. Not olegs fault really.

I just wrote a post over at Netwings.org to see if I could
get any support for doing the Morane cockpit. Looks like we're getting the Gladiator, but no Fokker D.XXI. The Gladiator will be welcome. So many people want TA-152s and other Superplanes, but nobody cares about the weakling ones. Is that because they aren't good pilots enough to do well in anything but a Superplane?? Anybody can fly a Uber
plane. Don't get me wrong, I kinda like those some too though.

The forgotten planes in Forgotten Battles is just about the only thing I whine about. That, and whiners. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Of course I'll be glad for the Spitfires, Mustangs and Mystery Nazi Planes to come, but I would really, really, really love to have the more unknown planes: The Fokkers, the Italian birds, all the forgotten planes of forgotten battles.

Last time I dared to voice that opinion, I was instantly flamed and told that I was ungrateful and unappreciative of the great job modelers are doing. No, I'm not. I just wish some of them would look at the lesser known planes.

Dont know bout you gents, but i enjoy flying the early war birds much more than the 44'-45' plane sets. Especially online, as there are no acceptable bombers to be used against the likes of the La-7 or 109 G with gun pods.

Surprisingly, I am more excited about the early Spits and Italian planes than i am about the P-51 or Ta-152. I know I am going to love BoB when it comes out for sure!

Yep, same thing here. My favourite Bf-109 is actually the Emil. And in a recent campaign I had a blast in the I-16.

lol you fly those "superplanes" against La7 or Yak3 and you'll see if they're that super. No seriously some people just don't like early planeset. I don't really like any plane before the Dora. So what should I do, fly some early POS against other early POS because I shouldn't like late
war planes vs other late war planes?

It's not like I'll by flying the Dora or Ta152 against your dumb fokker or gladiator you know.
