Hi BC!, if you open the utility, then press screenshots at the top you can associate a folder to send them to!

i wonder just what fraps ur trying to get. I never had to register for mine. if it asks u to register click no.

Anyway yes it is worth getting, u can take screenshoots easier. becouse with Il2 u have to convert them.
Also with fraps u can record ur games.

Yes I see....well furinstance notice that Sparty's Fraps window has JPG ticked. I found out it needs to be registered for that utillity.
A lot less KB's for upload and download use. I like fraps and use it a lot just thinkin 'bout kickin things up a notch http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

Registering FRAPS is really only worth it if you make movies and want to film long sequences. The free version is limited to 30 sec clips and places a "www.fraps.com" watermark at the top (easily cropped out using VirtualDub). The free version also will only take .bmp screenshots, but as danjama pointed out, IrfanView makes converting them easy (there is a batch convert function if you take lots of sceenies).

i have both but i use fraps for taking screens i dont bother to go tru the trouble of converting them. U guys see any difference in quality between converting them, or just using fraps?

I would suggest to take a look at Game Cam too.I get a lot better frame rates when using it compared to FRAPS.No frame rates checking thingy on it though, but for grabbing movies(and you can take screenies too) I think it´s better.
I use Game Cam but there is a Game Cam lite wich is cheaper but with less options .But for just screenshots FRAPS is more than enough, added with GIMP for converting and touching up http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Just adding that Game Cam do have a "blue tint" problem with Open GL for the moment. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Actually converting them is no problem.. I actually have PS7.. thats what I use to skin with.. but I wanted something different for screens other than prtscrn which is what I have been using since day one. I have amn older copy of Fraps.. but I cant find the dadblamed shots!! LOL.. They dont go to the folder I assigned them to.

Got it figured Bearcat...One of 2 ways. If you make a new folder then F10 is the printscreen key and you will see your screen in that folder..or..disable the bloody F10 key and then everything will become 'normal' and your printscreen will appear in paint using paste ect.as the IL-2 Gods intended...geesh

You also might try one of these screenie progs:

YAFS screen (http://www.simviation.com/fs2002utilities_gen2.htm)
(Screenies are a bit blurry, but it could be my jurassic GC)

FS screen (http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/showthread.php?t=4461&highlight=fsscreen)

Snapper (http://www.ovosoft.nl/snapper/)(Pics are fine, but some crashes accure from time to time http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif)

Screen Hunter (http://www.wisdom-soft.com/products/screenhunter.htm)

Some of them were developed for FS 2004, but they should also work fine in IL-2 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

No joy... I set the key to print screen.. assigned the shots to go to my screenshots folder... and nada.. I tried the F-10 thing too.. I also have one of those MS keyboards with the function lock button and I tried it both ways... zippo... I dont get it.. I know it is something simple but I am just missing it.

For what it's worth, I use the "\" key for screen capture in FRAPS 'cause it's not assigned to any other function - system or game related. Therefore, I've got the "print screen" key reserved for it's intended use, which I use to capture single shots under ATI smart-shader mode (FRAPS won't show the SS effects). As for the folder, I named it "screenshots" and placed it in my storage partition, and pointed FRAPS to it's location. Hope this helps, Good Luck!

I paid for the full versions of both Fraps and Gamecam, but I've found Fraps is really all I need and has fewer issues with new games, drivers, etc...

The videos are quite large, but it's simple to open them up in Windows Movie Maker and compress them as .wmv to get them the size you want.

Cheers
