Im going to buy it, just a few questions - Im seeking reassurance http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Will the US version work in the UK or are there diffent models?

Has anyone experienced any reliabilty issues?

Will it work effectively my 15inch TFT?

Which model should I buy for best value?

Is it plug in and play or does it require lots of configuration?

and ummm ... any general feedback from you guys who use it would be great!

thanks

I am UK based and bought mine from eDimensionl (US based but with London outlet I think). I have the 3 Pro version and that's the only one I have owned so can't compare to non pro version. Suffice to say, it rocks and works sweet with my 19" TFT.

Don't plug it into a hub though when/if you get one. It will crash, needs it's own PC USB port.

It will be a little odd and take time to get used to initially, but soon becomes second nature.
Only problems I have experienced are with it sometimes losing track of the reflective dot (I use the ones that came with it). There are other ways of creating a more effective reflective surface that the unit will not lose track of. Check out Tully's(?) sig. I think it was he who devised a clever way, which I will try one day.

Also from uk and you can get a flavour of my thoughts here

http://www.airwarfare.com/AWX/features/reviews/trackir_review.htm

I also bought it from edimensional and was impressed with service- however if you decide to go with pro version check with natural point as they offer discounts through airwarfare-

there are two versions the trackir3 and trackir3 pro. The pro baisically scans more than the other.

There is also vector expansion which improves control but is an added expense.

I have non pro trackir and am pleased with this but I am getting vector expansion soon to try out.

I have seen some reliability issues reported on the forums but support and replacement for these rare faults looks to be very quick and efficient. I also have had some contact with naturalpoint recently and have been impressed with level of communication and feedback I received.

In the package is a clip for installing on TFTs- placement of unit and dots is crucial to get full effects so may have to play around to get best results..- there was a thread in this forum recently about mounting it on TFTS and Laptops so have a hunt and see thoughts on this

Installation is very simple as described in review, and there are preinstalled profiles so you can get started literally in minuites. Make sure you download the latest drivers from naturalpoints site as they improve on the supplied drivers.

Have a read of review and check out the naturalpoint site here

It wasn't Tully's mod, but T_O_A_D 's!

Read all about it here (http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/groupee/forums?q=Y&a=tpc&s=400102&f=49310655&m=15310285&p=1)

(Personally, I do not see the need for it ... my TIR3PRo is working fine without it)

And I guess it'll work fine with any monitor, or setup, as long as you have good USB, and set it up straight!

Have FUun!

The best version is the Track IR 3Pro with the vector expansion, this will give you the full 6DOF for BoB when it comes out, it also works in CFS3 and FS2004. It has a clip to fit it onto Flat monitors and it is completely reliable. Being USB it is dead easy and then just install the stuff from the CD. I've not had a single problem with it.
I really recommend it,

OD.

I have a half sphere attached to my glasses and it gives a larger area to be tracked, this mainly prevents loss of tracking at the periphery when your head is turned at the greatest angle.
I have had mine for some time now and I have found that the reflective dots need renewing after some time to retain 100% accuracy.
I couldn't go back to hat switch, get it you won't be sorry.

Excellent, guys thanks for the quick replies !

Its a long over due birthday present so I dont feel guilty about going for the Pro vector expansion model http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
