I saw in many books that in the F6F there was a mirror in the cockpit. Why isn't there a mirror in the game version?
Idon't meen that one of the models had a mirror, but that all of the models that I saw had a mirror!

The mirror was removed due to whining.

The plane is lighter without it, and the fans demanded to have the best performance. Someone fabricated a picture that shows the cockpit without a mirror, and here we are.

How come it's seeming like the whiners are getting there way so much. I mean you can turn off the mirrors. Although I have changed my name finally to what I fly with at hyperlobby I've been around this game for years. I finally stopped posting here due to all the flaming and whining about my plane won't do this or do that. it's not real or it's not real enough. If you ask me this sim is turning into a arcade game. If I were oleg I would simply do it as historically possible and if someone didn't like it tell them they can always go play CFS3 and then they would see an awful game.

Or perhaps he already has done it 'as historically possible'?

The guy just asked a simple question. The biggest problem here is that people have to be complete jerks. If you don't have an answer, just don't reply.

I have wondered about this omission myself, ell201, and, as demonstrated by some of the posters, saying the Emperor is naked brings out the goon squad. Basically the squeaky wheel gets oiled, and, apparently, there isn't a huge Hellcat lobby to make the requisite squeak. Right here is an excellent start!

It always seemed strange that the Corsair and Wildcat have them, but the Hellcat doesn't.

Can you name a cockpit that has been modified due to user requests?

I don't fly the F6F so I cannot know for sure but, you have to assign a key to show the mirror. I have it bound to F-11. Also, sometimes it is needed to tilt the view upwards a bit to actually see it. It does make for a big FPS decrease so that is why they gave the public the option to turn it on or off.

I apologize if I sound mocking, I'm just trying to be funny. in a post I find to be funny, and a little offensive.

Simply the modeler made the cockpit the way he thought it was supposed to be, based on what reference he had. Some make it sound like the artists or MG have a vendetta against the simmers.

As much as we might like them to make realism corrections for the meshes, it has never happened before, and we shouldn't expect it every to happen in this sim.

please understand: I love and appreciate this game. I have yet to find a better or more realistic one ( nor am I likely to ).
It's just that in this specific case I simply wanted to know why such a simple thing as a mirror was not added, especially as it exists in other models, and historically existed in this one, as evident in the many pictures we've seen, and the enormous amount of literature that exists on the subject.
I'm not criticising, and I know there won't be any changes, but maybe in future versions there will be http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

The forum regulars really need to cut the sincere posters some slack. Not everybody has been around for ages. The poster has an excellent question, and, as a person who uses the Cat quite a bit, I'm rather astonished it was deprived of the standard Grumman rear-view mirror which started with the Wildcat. This lack puts a pretty big tactical limitation on a fine aircraft and leaving it out was plain dense.

The missing mirror in the F6F is just another error in the long list of errors associated with Pacific Fighters.

Unfortunately, Maddox himself has even stated that long ago, modelling issues could not be corrected simply due to time......Features that can be turned on or off with a little bit of code "might be", yet those that take a fair bit of effort (assuming they can't just slip say the wildcat mirror code into the Hellcat) They would not be doing.

It's a shame yet understandable.....In kind don't harp too hard on the modellers as said above, they made with what they knew or had to go by.....I really, REALLY cannot believe there is any malice or bias involved.

Just a simple whoops, forgot that part and now too late to add in.......Especially with the 2 final addons done....Before done maybe a slim slim chance. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif
