View Full Version : Oleg's patch

Oleg surprised us all today with the release of the 1.2b patch for public testing. LIke most of you, we are currently unable to download the files from the link he provided. We are trying our best to make the patch available on our servers ASAP but today is a national holiday in Russia and getting hold of someone from Maddox Games is proving to be quite a challenge.

I'll keep you informed of any further developments.

Only problem here is Oleg wanted opinions on beta by Monday, after his Holiday. But noone can get patch or get in touch with him to tell him.

So he arrives back Monday, finds nothing`s happened and will have to re-issue the beta, delaying the patch further and further.

I`m beginning to see the spectre of 2 weeks....

The Russian holiday in question is the Day of Accord and Conciliation:

November 7 - the anniversary of the Socialist Revolution of October 1917 which established communist power - still survives. The system is gone, but many still cling to the custom.

Interesting eh comrades?

To be honest,

I hope they leave him alone. He deserves the rest. Especially after all this complaining about a leaked beta he never intended to get out. If the community doesn't watch it, they are going to take the passion away from him. And when the passion is gone-NO MORE COOL IL2 PLANES. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif We will be stuck with poor excuses.

How many voice mail messages is his phone gonna have when he gets back in the office :-)

I can imagine it now, Oleg walks in all relaxed after a few days fishing and spending time with the family.... to find people from all over the world trying desparately to download a file and leaving millions of emails, and messages.

Poor guy will need another holifay.

Thunak,

Is the 1.2b "public beta" the same as the 1.2bPatch that has been distributed for "non-public testing" from Oleg beggining of the week ?

I understand tha you may not be able to answer this question with 100% accuracy....
but it may save hours of download time all over the world today (it's Friday!!!)

Thanks and best regards,

Manos1

Thunak: The 15mb patch can easily be found go to sim hq for a link; all it is is an update to the closed beta patch; just post the leaked beta with the 15mb update and that will solve all problems. I'm leaving so I can't respond for now.

I've been running with just the new files.sfs - some have said there are problems but it's working okay for me. Not sure if that is the file with the flight models or not - hope so since that is all I'm interested in.
Anyway - it was real nice of Oleg to release it - too bad the server went down.

yep, it is all you were interested in, but what Oleg seemed interested in was to have a public test of this release candidate in order to find out if there was major bugs remaining.... And we can't really test it without the second file...

Where's your sense of humor?

This may be a new form of test marketing -- offer a beta to an uncontrolled (unmeasurable) sample, then turn off the server and go on vacation. Next week, count the email and phone responses and make a new forecast for the next update.

On the other hand, this isn't MS. This could simply be a very talented group of programmers feeling their way through a strange business. Simmers are clearly passionate about their pastime! As for UBI, they're looking at 313 thousand hits on this site, sending emails to their distributors and considering the (suggested retail) price of the next update and the BoB scheduled for '04.

Do you suppose the folks at MS are reading these posts and hoping they can get CFS3.1 out the door fast enough to head off this train?

After it was refeuled i climbed in.With many manipulations the mechcanics started the turbines.I followed their actions with the greatest of interest. The first one started quite easily.the second caught fire.In no time the whole engine was on fire.Luckily as a fighter pilot i was used to getting quickly out of the cockpit. The fire was quickly put out.The second plane caused no trouble - Adolf Galland (first time in a ME262)
