A very interesting story about a Heinkel He-111 that crashed in England during the Battle of Britain - with only one of the crew surviving: Heinrich Berg. I occassionally buy a "Fly Past" magazine which deals with World War I and World War II aircraft. I saw this month's issue and bought it because of this interesting story. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Heinrich Berg as a young man in his Luftwaffe uniform.

Olive Smith as a young woman, 1941.

Heinrich Berg and Olive Smith, 57 years later.

Fascinating. Very interesting the 111P was flying at 18,000 feet inbound to the target. Certainly odd the Defiant was able to hit him in a surprise attack on a clear, moonlit night with the cloud at 7,000 feet. The Defiant wasn't using very subtle tactics. Surprising they were able to bring down the Heinkel. Thanks, Christian
