OK, I give up.

Why does my mouse not move the gunners weapon (oh er).

It moves cursors over maps, lets me scroll around the cockpit but I can't even fire weapons although left click is set to fire.

Is it because I use it to 'look' around?

Makes flying bombers a real nightmare.......

In the Foxhound's Kennel is...

Duron 1.2 Ghz, Win XP, 512MB PC133, , Ti4800SE,SB 5.1, Dx9.0a and a small fowl in a fruit tree of indeterminate origin.

Turn off the map, while you have the map up the mouse will do nothing BUT control the map cursor.

Hi Tully

I'll check tonight but pretty sure map was off because I sussed the map-mouse-view relationship thing after a few moments of panic some time back (It was a bit like the Spielberg film 1941 - James belushi and his map..?)

Perhaps you have toggled the 'auto pilot automation' feature?

If you assign a key control to "Toggle Level Autopilot", and used it, you get a HUD message that says "Autopilot Automation ON" or "Autopilot Automation OFF"

If Autopilot Automation is OFF, you don't automatically get control of the gun when you enter a gun turret.

In such circumstance you can still look around the gun position, but cannot control the gun, until you turn autopilot off for that gunner, by hitting whatever key you have assign to "Toggle Autopilot".

Also, if "Autopilot Automation" is OFF, the autopilot will not take the aircraft controls while you go to the gunners seat - you must toggle the autopilot on while you are in the Pilot seat if you want autopilot on.

If you return to the pilots seat (or go to another gun-station), and you want the AI to control the gun again, you must toggle autopilot ON for that gunner position before you leave the seat.

This is different to il-2 and better. AI in IL_2 always takes away your flight control every time you grab the back seat for a minute to fire the gun!

Using this option in FB you can fly the plane with the joystick while sitting in in any gunner position!

If Autopilot Automation is ON then you get the familiar AI behaviour from IL-2 - as soon as you change seat in the aircraft, AI takes control of ALL other gun positions and flight controls and navigation.

I've only just started Forgotten Battles, having recently finished IL-2. I had a little play in the He-111 and move around the gun positions and found I could control the guns in all but the nose position. Have I done something wrong? In the nose position I still seemed to retain control of the aircraft rather than the gun.

That position you describe is not a gun position, it is a bombers seat!

When you get in that 'nose position', click Shift-F1 and you will be looking through the bomb sight!

The bomb sight is controlled by that player at the same time as having control of the flying by joystick.
