Gibbage was doing the PBY-5-something, but he decided he wouldn't be able to complete the model to the standard required, so I think he's redoing it for MSFS.

1.) the CAC CA-12 Boomerang
2.) the CAC Wirraway
3.) the Lancaster or B17

those would be my three, the first two Aussie Planes definatly should have been in Pacific Fighters since we used them to hold of the japanese. And the CA 12 served in many a combat role right up to the end of the war. And we seriously lack a decent 4 engine buff, i would have thought B17 for daylight bombing, Lanc for night opps would help make this sim that much more complete.

But then I'd rather model things so I can use the renders of them and not for game purposes. Not saying I would say no to a F-104G in PF though incase Oleg is reading this. Throw in a MiG-21F13 for opposition.

The Fw 190D-13.

As well as making new 3D models for the D and A.

A Spitfire Mk XIV would also be a priority.

If I thought they was still allowing new planes into the game I would do some more modelling. The Tempest and Mossy have been available to go in for a very long time but 1c have also needed time to get them in. So making any new planes is now defunct i think otherwise I would do one no worries.

But if they was my list would be:

1) Avro Lancaster (flyable with all positions)
2) B17 Cockpit and positions.
3) Spitfire IXV (flyable)

Ill admit I want more British planes. Also I miss the fact that we have only 1 4 engine heavy bomber so getting the Lanc and B17 in and flyable would be amazing. And the IXV spit is just because im greedy http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

p-61 Black Widow
Whirlwind
Hornet

my underlying choice principle is - twins with lots of firepower. the p-61 will be untouchable, I think, even by daylight - with a 4c.50s in a turret (that also lockable to fire forward with the 4x 20mm s)

Laugh all you want, but I'd go for something that would help create more diverse missions, ie:

-Me323
-Ju52
-C-47 & variants for other nations
-Blenheims
-Storch

And the torpedo bombers for Pacific theatre, ofcourse.

ploughman
02-03-2006, 10:06 AM
Spitfire Mk XIV in its various guises, would complete the Spitfire set nicely (no MK 1s or IIs untill BoB).

Hawker Sea Fury. Bling, bling.

I'm a bit torn on the four engined heavies. A 617 Lancaster for special missions, with Tall Boys, Grand Slams, and Up Keeps, would be the schnizel but if it's a more generic mission thing then I'd probably go for a B-17 or B-24 as I don't think the sim's really equipped to deal with all the H2-S/radar stuff that a night bomber and night fighter opponent would need.

PBY. I just love this thing. When I think American I think of this and the Homer Simpson, I mean P-47.

The Arado Ar 234 jet bomber.

I thought about the Lysander. With some 'tag' targets to simulate landing and picking up an agent in a field, or some kind of artillery direction, it'd be useful. Nice plane. The DC-3/C-47 would be a good one aswell, come to think of it, and I guess the Ju-52. Perhaps the Ju-52 could come with a Richard Burton/Clint Eastwood add-on.

panther3485
02-03-2006, 10:22 AM
With luck, they might include my 'Shagbat' (Walrus) just in time for BoB. Then I can chug around and pick up some downed pilots!

[Thought! Now, wouldn't that be cool, if you could do it in-game!]

I'd make a pit and positions for the B-17, B-24. And do the pit for the P-36/H-75. The He-177, Do-17 flying pencil and the P-38F. Also the KI-27 and 44. Very similar to many other people I guess.
The B-26 Marauder/widow maker is also a good idea if they could make it as difficult to fly as it really was. It would be nice to have some earlier P-38s for sure.

You know what? We almost started the Sea Gladiator when Pacific Fighters was released, but we had to drop the idea because we didn't have that much free time in our hands.

That's the crude reality. Knowing how to model is just one part of the equation. You need an awful lot of free time to do all the research and the modelling work. Around 10 or 12 months if you manage to put 1 hour on the project every day.

Oh, that is just cruuuuuuueeeeelllllll!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I know full well the requirements to pull off a quality modelling job for this game, or indeed any game with high modelling standards. I've been lurking about the old Netwings modelling forums for a long time, and trying help out with info and references when I could.

I started trying to learn to model with gsmax, or summit, and found it really quite demanding even to create a simple model. One day hopefully I'll be able to make some kind of contribution other than finding photos!

Yea me too :

1) P-39 "Field mod" Soviet version 1943 , without armor , retrieved machine guns , engine running higher rpm . Currently we have factory versions that rarely fought "as-is" in the East ,that are slower and less performing than Soviet Airacobra that gave the highest scoring Allied aces .

2) Spit XIV : to have the Royal Air Force better represented along with Mosquitos and Typhoon if possible

3) Hs-129 / Do-217 , because these planes fought a lot on Eastern front , it's the basic ground attack German planes or Recon of WWII that we still miss in the game ..

4) Morane 406 / P-36 / Dewoitine D520 , especially the Dewoitine , cause this plane was highly performing , beautiful , and because these planes took part on the Battle of France and Finish campaign which are two major events of WWII .

5)Corrected load outs for all planes like Hurricanes for example

There's no way I could pick just 3. So I'll just make a short list:

<UL TYPE=SQUARE> PB4Y-2 Privateer

<LI>F4U-4 and subtypes, especially the F4U-4B, just to get the 4x20mm hispanos. Because as everybody knows, 20mm > .50 caliber. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
<LI>Later MK Spitfires (Griffon 65 engine, 5 blade Rotol prop, bubble canopy, etc). Thats a plane with absolutely beautiful lines. Any of the bubble canopy Spitfire marks would do, really.
<LI>TBM/TBF Avenger. Uglier than homeade sin, but we NEED a torpedo bomber.
Now, now for the "doesnt really have any business being included, but I'd love to see them modeled anyway" list:

<UL TYPE=SQUARE>
<LI>Vought XF5U-1 (http://www.vought.com/heritage/products/html/xf5u-1.html). Funny looking, sure. But it had alot of potential. Shame it was never developed.
<LI>Goodyear F2G-2 (http://www.air-and-space.com/Goodyear%20F2G.htm). Yes, I know the F4U-4s had similiar performance, but I love the look of this airplane.
<LI>Convair PB4Y-2 Privateer
<LI> Boeing XF8B-1 (http://www.daveswarbirds.com/usplanes/aircraft/xf8b-1.htm).
Neither list is complete, of course. But thats all I've got time for right now. It'll do for starters, anyway.

I happen to be an airplane modeler (only for renders and animations though, not games, so they're poly-heavy). I was wondering what are the specifications (number of polygons) and how (are there mods?) to get them ingame. I'd be willing to try a few of the planes, epecially the he100, sea fury and ta-152H.

My list is longer than 3.
Well one area that I feel the game is lacking is in AI bombers for some nations. Hard to do a convincing with no bombers to escort. So my list
would be - all AI.

Italy - Sm79
France - Breguet 693 AB2
Poland - PZL P37 LOS B
Czech - Aero A304
Japan - KI 21
BR - Lanc or Halifax & Swordfish

Too bad we lose the planes we have when we move to BOB. Hope 3rd parties keep pumping out new planes.

Make the AI Curtiss Hawk, Moranes and Blenheims flyable. For the PTO Firefly, Barracuda and a FLYABLE Avenger. For the ETO DO17/215, Typhoon and Lancaster. But it would be easy to go on and on and..........etc!

1. Allied torpedo bomber (TBD, TBF, but any flavor...even the Swordfish for crying out loud)
2. Allied heavies (B-24, B-17, Lancaster)
3. Hawk 75

We need a historical allied torp bomber for many of the missions in PTO.

Even just one allied heavy (non-AI) would just be cool.

Hawk 75. Coolness factor aside, the battle for France missions would be more fun IMO.

Dornier Do.24K (flyable).

Seversky P-35A (flyable).
Lockheed Hudson (AI).
Mitsubishi G3M Nell (AI).
And make flyable Hawk 75A-7.
