I'll be there. I'm the one who had the 50 cal machine gun on my kids' stroller last year (the one I made myself out of wood in my shop out back in my shed. Looks real doesn't it. I make them to order if anyone wants them or any other type of weapon. Just ask)! And will have it on a stroller again this year. Look for me there. You can't miss it!!! I have been going every year since 1990 except those years that I could not take leave from the Army and now that I have been out for the last 2 1/2 years I have been there. I can't wait! See you guys there.
It comes apart into over 30 pieces just like the real thing. Here are some pics of the 50 cal. Hope you guys like it. I would like to make a set or sets of Spit controls which should not be too difficult. I have all the tools I need. The hardest part will be to cannibalize some controlers to get it to actually work. Anyone interested? Mine will probably cost a whole lot less than the "other" ones I was reading about I assure you. Once I start on the Spit control project I will post something in these forums about it.

I'll bring a good camera, maybe a video camera if I can buy one soon enough.

That is so odd. I was just talking to someone about an MG34 today! Get me some detailed photos of the top and sides and even the parts broken down. I will make any gun from that era as I enjoy making things like that so much. Anyone else just need ask. I would like to really start my own business doing this as I am a disabled veteran and do a lot in my little workshop here at home.

If you were interested,I could PM you.(NO copyright worries, all privately gathered info, yet COMPLETE)
That's assuming I can figure out how to do PM,never done it,and this UBB is odd to me,as I learned XML.

I'm guessing that you saw this thread: Spitfire Controls (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/6721006444)

Although, you say yours would be less expensive than "others" that you've read about, maybe you can get some ideas about adding the "cannabalized" controller parts to yours from that link.

At the bottom of the last post in that thread is another link to a full cockpit replication for a Spit Mk. V. Maybe more ideas as well.

What we need to do is get some kind of predetermined article or color of clothing.. a hat or something to identify ourselves.... I met Ivan, Hunter, Wayno,Fox & Joe last year.. but I think they noticed me bcause my son had a T shirt with my sig picture on the back of it. Ill be wearing something with a Redtail plane on it.. and I will have a 9 year old boy with me....

See you guys there... at the Main Gate... I'll be either taking your money or working with Security checking bags, and that machine gun of Choctaw111's..... again. I remember seeing it last year. If it's raining and they leave you off for the Ramp Gate entrance, just ask to get to the Main Gate. You'll get in faster. I'll be seeing Crazy Ivan, Hunter and their group. Looking forward to seeing you too Bearcat. But after I get my hug from Mrs. Powell again this year. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

And ask for vonSpin when you get there. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif The only time I won't be working is for the show Saturday from 1130 to 1530 and time off to eat. LOL A good place for everyone to meet will be near the 109, if she's there, at 1200hrs Saturday.

And if you want... join the museum and work with us next year... there are benefits to being a member. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Hiya folks! Glad to see some of my old Il-2 buddies will be coming to Reading this weekend. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif Most likely I'll be there Saturday. Guess I'll have to go after winning a pair of passes to the event from a local radio station. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

I live a few miles east of the museum and seen the B-17 "Yankee Lady" flying about giving rides for $425 a pop. Also, the B-24 Liberator "Diamond Lil" is said to be here. The Lancaster and the Me-109 (the two star aircraft of this year IMO) are supposed fly in Friday morning, weather permitting of course. Cross your fingers, because our WX forecast is calling for widespread showers on Friday into early Saturday morning. I'll keep you guys updated if the Lanc and the 109 arrive as scheduled.

Enjoy the show--it gets better every year!

Here's a few pics I snapped today from my house:

The B-24 "Diamond Lil":

As you can see, it was hazy here, but the steady rain held off till evening. The forecast for Saturday is morning showers, but a low ceiling might prevent afternoon aerial acts. As far as I know, the Me-109 did not make it in yet. Gosh, I hope any rain doesn't ground the 'Gunny'. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Owlsphone, CrazyIvan,
I'll be there Sunday. I'll probably have my bush hat on again. Maybe I'll put an IL-2 boxtop on my back. Hope to get there around 10. Have to remember to ask for vonSpin at the gate.
He had a good idea, I'll be around the 109 at noon. (or the cheesesteak stand http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif)....
PS. Nice pics, ShadowSix!

I've switched my day to sunday. My dad doesn't want to go there in the rain and Sunday seems not to have as much of a chance now.

Since there was no 109 on Friday I took the time to talk to Jack Lucas for a while. He recieved the Medal of Honor for diving on top of a grenade and scooping another one under him (2 grenades!!!!)to save his buddies. He and my grandfather fought together on Iwo Jima and get together quite a bit so it was nice to see him again. Here is a pic that I got with him yesterday. I will be going back on Sunday with my wife and maybe some of my kids. At least one of them for sure. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v343/PublicPhotoAccount2/DSC03157-1.jpg

I couldnt find the 109, the Spit or the Hurri... I hear they should be there tomorrow. Today wasnt too bad..andthe sun even came out. The Mustang,Avenger,P-50,Lanc,B-17,B-24,Val,Corsair,AT-6 and a few others all flew. Nothing like the sound of 4 Merlins.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
I didnt see anyone there.. but Ill be back on Sunday.. got a Motel nearby.. See some of you tomorrow...

Hi folks,

I went today (Saturday) to the WWII Weekend, and the show was EXCELLENT. For those of you who haven't gone yet, you'll love it. But I'm sorry to write that the Me-109 wasn't there on Saturday, nor was the Hurricane or Spitfire. Nonetheless, it's more about the people and fun of the event that make it the best WWII re-enactment in the world. For those of you going on Sunday, enjoy the show!

Here's just a few pics that I took today:

Nose of the Lancaster Bomber (my reflection is showing). I was inside the Lancaster (prepare to wait in a long line) and have pics but don't want to spoil anything for the Sunday attendees!:
