View Full Version : Advice for Oleg

After just standing back a little, and observing the actions of Oleg and 1C games in general, I have a few hints that could help.

1) After an initial game release, wait about 4-5 months, and then release a 'special edition', which is simply the original game bundled with the patch. After 6-7 months, release a 'game of the year' edition. This has all patches PLUS any extra planes!!.. cost for 'game of the year' edition should be roughly 1 1/2 times the original game price.

2) On the game of the year edition, include smhultzy crap like big posters of the development team, a game box that has some wicked saying like 'for the motherland!' when you open it (dont worry about the extra production cost, simply add extra $20-30 retail price for the electronic speaker gadget inclusion)

3) An absolute must, make all the different versions of the game completely different in make up. This means that that they require different patch downloads, and are incompatible for network games = more sales.

4) Never post on the main game forum. Geez man, what were you thinking!! This is just not the done thing in the game development circles. This is mainly to present the image of 'developer is God', and needn't bother him/herself with the whims of mere plebs.

5) If you do not follow step 1, then release ONE IL2 patch per year, and have the game followed by the year number. ie. IL2 2004! Don't make more changes/enhancements than barely necessary, because if you fix everything, what are you going to release the following year?

6) Kill all known wurgerwhiners, jam their heads on sticks and post pictures of them in the forums. Hmm, even though RBJ isnt a wurgerwhiner, better include him as well.

Hope this helps, any questions feel free to ask.

Hmm..sounds like Micro$oft Marketing. I would like to see IL2 commercials on Discovery Wings. Getting tired of seeing Aces high and FS2004 commercials only.

I actually wasted 30 seconds of my life reading the above useless thread.
I gotta be more selective in the future.

Go play something else then.

Probably the bar at the bottom is too thick and blocks your sight, whiner.

Hint : It was actually pointing out Oleg is pretty good to us.
