GWX -> http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/GWX/ (http://www.users.on.net/%7Ejscones/GWX/)

GW 1.1a -> http://mpgweb.de/downloads/index.php?act=category&id=1 the earlier version

Gameshadow (http://www.gameshadowus.com/), if you want a single download and not have to worry if any bin files will be corrupt, and Gameshadow it twice as fast to download than anywhere else. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Also, DO NOT download the Uboats in the Mediterranean if you are tempted, GWX has all that and more.

I've been playing GWX for a week now - and I just wanted to say how much of an improvement it is on basic SH3 - a big thankyou to the developers.

One side-effect I have - I can't get one of those gramaphone tunes out of my head! (Something to do with apple trees!)

Any more gramaphone sound files I can download for a change?

Uboats in the Med is just another Sea Wolves, Stolen Freeware Mods, and poorly done also. Why pay for something you can get for free.

"Its Foolish but its Fun"

Dat's da one! Any more information on it? Or any of the other songs and melodies? The other one that keeps coming to mind is the "All Over the Place" one. It has to be said, those British songs of the 30s and 40s were pretty silly. How on earth (apart from the help of the other Allies) did they win with that kind of music (plus Vera Lynn) when the Axis had all that stirring marching music and macho sing-songs??

Any more gramaphone sound files I can download for a change?

First off, go here: Subsim Downloads (http://www.subsim.com/subsim_files/patches2005.html)

Scroll a quarter of the way down the list and look for "SH3 Gramophone Tipperary Sound Pack". This file pack has its good and bad parts about it.

The good part is that it adds some more tunes to your gramaphone list. The bad part is that the file format is in MP3 and not .ogg (like it is with the GWX tracks).

What's the problem? MP3 tracks in the game will sometimes stop abruptly mid-way through the song and move on to the next track in order, while .ogg files will play the song in it's entirety without stopping.

Still, the extra songs breaks the monotony and puts a little bit distance between the repetitions of your "It's Foolish, but it's Fun" song.

BTW: I can't stand that song either, so I deleted it from my SH3/Sound/Gramaphone file.

UBRS (http://u-boot.realsimulation.com/), then go to UBRS DLC, then choose SH3 Gramophone. There is around 40 downloads to choose from, including songs from 30's & 40's, and BBC War Broadcasts.

I use WinAmp, and play all gramophone stuff in a WinAmp Playlist. I use hotkeys to control Winamp while it's playing(Play, Pause, Volume etc...).

Corrupted files are a sign that you need to update your ethernet drivers (if you're running DSL).

The same thing happened to me a while back and it fixed the problem.

It's dead easy to convert mp3 to ogg. I'm surprised the author of that mod didn't do it.

http://www.dbpoweramp.com/download.htm.

A google search on "convert mp3 ogg free" gets over 1,500,000 hits.

Quite right, Potoroo, thanks - I downloaded dBpower AMP and its OGG codec. Seemed to convert ok. Just a trial version, but that's okay for now.

For audio conversion I use Besweet + BesweetGUI.

Dec 23rd Corrections (http://files.filefront.com/GWX___Dec_23rd_Corrections7z/;6437257;;/fileinfo.html)

There is another one coming out soon, it was supposed to be Jan 30th, but computer problems has but it on hold until further notice.

I have version 1.1 is there an upgrade to that?

Tuddley3, I downloaded the "December 23rd Corrections" but can't work out where I put each of the folders etc. Do I find the corresponding folder in my SH3 install and replace files of the same name?

I just don't want to replace folders wrongly - for example, in the "data/sea/" folder, there's a sub-folder called "NCHT" which contains one file. In my installation that same folder contains 20 files, so if I replaced folder for folder I'd lose 19 files (I think).

So can you confirm that I'm right to think that the one file in that example - "ncht.dat" - replaces the corresponding ncht.dat file I already have and the others are untouched?

I forgot to say - thanks to the suggestions about gramOphone tunes, OGG files, converters, WinAmp etc, I am now beginning to see the light - I actually play all the tunes from a winamp playlist whatever I'm doing on the 'puter, or all over the place. It's foolish but it's fun!

Tuddley, Please disregard my concerns about the Dec 23rd mods - I just discovered how to get JSGME to sort it out. Made it almost unbelievably easy! Doh!

Just in case anybody had the same problems, get yourself JSGME (http://www.beerymod.com/sh3_003.htm) then just insert the downloaded Dec 23rd Corrections folder (or any other mod you have yet to install) into the MODS folder of SH3/data/ (create one if necessary) and then run JSGME.

Hi

I want to change my deck gun load outs but when I do I either can't acces AP and SS shells and now GWX is crashing

any explanaition as to why?

geoffwessex
02-02-2007, 09:32 AM
There will be an expert along shortly, but I think GWX reduces your ammunition load to just HE. There would be a file that can be changed though, I expect.

IU have a problem I have tried to chage the amount of shells I have on my gun but when I go into the game it tells me that I dont have any shells left? what is causing this glitch?

geoffwessex
02-02-2007, 12:25 PM
I wonder if it's the same thing that fooled me.... I started in GWX for the first time and, as there were only HE rounds, the deck gun view only showed HE - I assumed they were being loaded but couldn't fire the gun. I asked on here and it was pointed out to me that I still needed to SELECT the ammunition (click on HE) AT THE GUN POSITION.

bog1989
02-02-2007, 02:13 PM
I have tried to do that but it just says that I am out of ammo ie there is no ammo left so I am busy trying to reinstall the game and then reinstall GWX

Kaleun1961
02-02-2007, 05:31 PM
My understanding is that GWX provides only HE rounds for the deck gun.

bog1989
02-03-2007, 08:45 AM
oh ok but that doesn't eplain why it is telling me that I have no shells?

geoffwessex
02-03-2007, 10:39 AM
When you next get the chance, go to the gun position and just CLICK ON the HE shell itself.

bog1989
02-04-2007, 10:59 AM
What is the max amount of shells you can change it to ?

bog1989
02-04-2007, 11:27 AM
Oh and I did as you told me and it did work so you actually have to select the HE shells before you can use them funny

Click on your weapon officers head, a pop-up menu appears, on this click on the torpedo pic and the weapons management page appears. Make sure you select the auto reload (top l/h side of page).
Then, before you go to deck gun, make sure it is manned, or you will not be able to use it. Each time you fire, it will reload.
I suggest you guys use commander, so you can decrease the reload time easily
