Title says it all; I had to go back to my original drivers CD for my Audigy 2ZS card, turn off the sound extensions, and back my OpenGL settings down to merely 1024x768 16 bit and Excellent. I was nearly reduced to using DirectX video before the sucker would stop locking up on me.

On the plus side, that Wildcat will turn on a dime & give the proverbial 9 cents change...

cheers

For a change, all I had to do was purchase, place CD in drive, and follow the prompts. I was actually surprised http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

My system got attacked by trojans about 3 days before PF came out. I rebuilt my system after doing format c: and was ready to install PF.

Unfortunately, the day the game show up in the mail, a video driver got messed up and sent my system into a continuous loop that it couldn't recover from. I ended up reformatting my system once again and putting all my programs back on.

Finally, got everything loading and working after a few days but I had to install a lot of different video drivers in order for the game to work right. I think it the bugs are finally worked out.

Other than that, it was easy. And actually, PF went on without much difficulty.

Simply installed the game the night I picked it up from Best Buy. No problems and now troubles at all during the installation and only one tiny pause in the game this morning that caused me to crash my plane into the ocean in the QMB.

Asked someone to give it to me as a birthday present. Installed it. It runs very well in Perfect mode on my computer with the ATI 4.7 drivers that are NOT recommended in the Readme file.

I installed over my original (very old) install of FB/AEP, which had a screwed up Dgen campaign; it no longer recorded mission activities, almost surely due to screw up with Lowengrins DCG, nobodies fault but my own, and it worked, sort of.

But my vain hope that PF would fix (overinstall) the campaign failed miserably, so I took the plunge for a total reinstall (first, ever). That was a big mistake, I somehow screwed up every possible thing that I could, from registry settings to video drivers, and to top it off, I was unable to to totally reinstall and then unable to uninstall... you get the picture.

Well, after everything short of my last option of a format (namely a reg cleaner, as well as a the hocus pocus to get AEP to install over an 'incorrectly installed' FB), it is now up and running beautifully. I even remembered to copy m y skins folder (though I had to reset all my keys and settings and such, I'm only slightly brighter than an average eggplant).

Opened the package when it fell through the letterbox. Opend the case .... (you get the picture http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It has run with no problems on top of my FB+AEP, even with all the tweaking of the ini file.

So far I have gone through tons of different drivers, and currently I have an open computer case with a 12" oscillating fan blowing into it. That seemed to finally do the trick. Why it makes my computer overheat so bad, I have no idea.
