The pilot must have been a giant---he makes the P-39 look like a scale model! Superb photos.

Nice work. Im curious as to the camera and lens you used.

That AC actually saw combat I believe and was recovered from N.guineau.....I think. They found the pilot who had flown it the last time it was in the air if I remember correctly.

I really do need to get out to an air show sometime soon.. Been too long since I've seen a classic bird in the air..

Tks all for the comments. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

@leitmotiv
The cockpit is rather small compared to other American aircraft. If you want, I've done a cockpit shoot but the quality is average.

@Enforcer572005
I use an eos 350D for the camera.
For lens:
a 17-85 IS and 100-400 IS

The P-39 is awesome! I've never seen one fly and this one is in great condition. I know the alison engine had to sound awesome. I heard one of these that was in a Yak in PA, USA.

Thank you for sharing.

Wow, beber strikes again! Lovely photography http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Any way of sharing your little secrects, in particular, what exposure time you used at 8-th picture of aircobra from the top, to get such a nice propeller?

EFG_beber
06-27-2008, 04:28 PM
@TinyTim
I use a speed of 1/320 to get a nice moving propeller but have a lot of blurred photo with fast aircraft. For take off and landing 1/160 is a limit. The max speed for propelled aircraft is 1/500. With higher speed the propeller will be fixed. Don't forget I use a stabilized lens.

@leitmotiv
The cockpit shoots but bad quality, excuse http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Yes, the 100-400 is a bit soft at top end for a L lens, but it's the only lens with this range, a fast focus and IS.

Hey Beber- thanks as my wife was looking over my shoulder at your photos and suggested (to me) that we visit an air museum this summer so I could absorb similar atmosphere http://media.ubi.com/us/forum_images/gf-glomp.gif

Yep. And from what I read the Japanese had some of the best quality flush rivets.

No need to look at the rivets... this is not one of the better looking AT-6 conversions... cockpit canopy looks particulary bad... and those wings...

Anyway, some fantastic images there! Personaly I wouldn't mind some hi-res copies so I can use them as desktop wallpapers.

Outstanding, first-rate work, sir! Worthy of publication.

BTW, I noticed a few WW1 birds lurking in the skies, including a pair of beautiful Morane-Saulnier Parasols. Were there many WW1 a/c in attendance?

Jasjo76 is in true, it's a modified T-6. Sorry but now I don't give hi-res copies. I've got problem in the past with published photos without my authorization.

A lot of ww1 aircraft in this airshow, but the weather was bad during the monring ans I've only take theses photos. But I've post some ww1 photos last year in this forum with cockpit view. I 'will try to find the topic.
