I was messing around in my trusty F4 seeing what the incendary rounds are like on the MG-17's and noticed a change in the way smoke trails from tracers draw.

There is now a time delay on the drawing of the smoke trail from when the round is fired. Previously the smoke trail began to draw the moment the round left the weapon barrel.

I'm not sure on the historical reasoning behind this change, but it certainly makes shooting with weapons with smoke trails easier a your field of vision does not get clogged up with trails as much. The benefit is particularly noticeable on cowl mounted guns and cannon http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Isn't there something wrong with the MG17 now? It seems to fire in bursts and then stop...

We seem to have tracers loaded in groups followed by a gap and then more. Bullets are still being generated when the tracers are not there though.

Another interesting thing... well spotted.

I believe the MG-17 has added incendenary rounds to its belt. Go hit something with it and you'll notice that the opposition lights up much quicker now. Finally its effective. I'm not sure if the 151 has changed.

Another thing I like about this new feature is I hated trying to show a really cool screenshot to my wife or kids and having them say, why is your plane flying through all those smoky lines?
Now they are out in front where they should be. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Isn't it so that when tracer bullet leaves barrel it starts to trail smoke. This smoke stops immediatelly due to high air resistance and plane has still very high speed. That's why the plane is flying through the smoke trails that are hanging in the air stationary.
