I voted ASE - least overhead and I'm banned from hyper http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif (don't ask I don't know why)...

I think you might've voted HyperLobby. That's what I thought I voted and there appear to be 2 votes (currently) for HL...

*shrug*

I flew at UBI the first year when the original IL2 came out, found out about Hyperlobby and never looked back or for something else other then Direct IP

I didnt know one could be banned from HL are u sure its not just an old version u are running??

I voted ASE. I prefer the cleaness of it,without all those scrolling texts.
It also updates the players faster than HL and I much like the way it shuts down when joining a server.
HL seemingly causes a bit more stutters on my machine on fuller servers. I'm not sure if it is because it runs in background in another way than ASE?

I anyway use both.

I'm sure Ob...
It happened in the time Hyper was under attack from Brazil...
One day I tried to join, it wouldn't connect.
The day before everything was fine...
Someone (good contact) told me hyper's ISP had blocked all IP's over 200.xxx.xx.xx (Mine is 213.51.xx.xx) so I thought OK - let's sit this out... I never got an email or anything... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
Tried once to contact Jiri - didn't succeed (could be my fault, could be he was too busy and I got lost between the ...) Anyway I may try again someday, but I must confess I can live without it. ASE lets me join WarClouds and some other servers I like so I registered that http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif and I'm very happy with it too http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

And lately I'm trying to host and to get a grip on what is essential to hosting on UBI... If they would only support online play more! Hyper would lose some games...

The only thing good at UBI online is the chat - and thats going down the drain fast lately with no-one enforcing common-sense rules http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I'm very glad we have Mods here... at least...

Seems you can't contact UBI for online play - try it - I tried

Recently, I've been flying G1 (http://www.gennadich.com/g1/index.php?&locale=en) so that's direct connect via IP. But otherwise I usually do the HL thing

I usually fly HL. The Squad does some IP to IP but mainly HL.

HL for me... prefer to use ASE or direct IP.. but some strange reason when I connect to Warclouds with any other method than HL, I start getting lag/warp issues that I don't have with HL.. go figure.. pings are all the same... haven't done much research, to busy flying http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Could be you forget to set your netspeed to 8000.
Hyperlobby connects ALL players at 14k4 IIRC, which other methods do not do. If you only join games (and not host) you could set netspeed in conf.ini :

Under header [NET] set
speed=8000

Thanks... probably correct as although I see the message on WC, since I don't have any problems via HL, I never bothered...will give that a try tonite...

Never tried hyperlobby, heard there are a lot of you know what's in there just like ubi.com where i fly, i see ya in there all the time labbit, my name on ubi is BIFF_P-51_PILOT. hehe
Don't know if hyperlobby is my style, mainly i like to look outside my plane when dogfightin, great feelin from watchin outside the plane, love it, externals off and blackouts are the only thing i don't like, sure call me newb but it's my style.

Predominately HL, very rarely Ubi, once on gamespy just to see how it worked. HL because I came to IL2 from EAW and HL was already home (when not flying the "zone"). I'm comfortable there, I know people there, the software works without the fuss and messing around that I experienced at Ubi and the Zone and it's moderated (unlike Ubi.com http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif).

Labbit, try another email to Jiri.

All of the above. Obviously I prefer the direct connectivity of IP as my first choice. The caveat to this is that others who use HL can't see if you are in the server or not.

Second choice is ASE. I like the interface and the extensive info in a neat, clean screen.

HL is my third choice, but that doesn't mean I don't like it. I just like ASE better.
