I can't be sure if this is as a result of the latest patch or not, it may just be a coincidence of both the port I'm in, and the boat I have.

Anyhow - I transferred to Bordeaux, and 'am sailing a Type IXD2 Boat.

My problem is - that when I begin the mission, it appears my boat is to big (too long specifically) to fit in the Sub Pen you start in.

As a result, I start with about the last 5ft of my boat or so - clipped into the concrete wall in the back end of the pen.

It doesn't matter if I try moving ahead slowly, or at flank speed - either way the boat takes enough damage to damage the hull integrity to the point where I sink, and die - right there in the sub pen.

As a result - the only way I can go further with this career - is to delete my past mission, and begin again back at Lorient before I transferred.

A word to the wise - stay the heck away from Lorient, as it takes you about 15 minutes real time just to leave port!
For the most part - for unknown reasons, you can not use time compression in this area. (There are a few places where you can - but it only lasts for maybe 50ft/2 or 3 seconds, before it reverts to 1x time compression again).

Anyhow - I DO hope there is a fix for this sometime soon. (Boats clipping into sub-pens at mission start, thereby preculding any possibility of actually leaving port) - but it would be nice if they enabled time compression for all of Lorient too. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

If you sail at less than 3 knots, you can TC up to 256 without any trouble. I've tried succesfully.

I've seen posts on both these problems before, and I think there are mods/fixes for the "too long sub/too short sub pen" problem - I know you can modify one of the .cfg files to change it so that time compression drops to maybe 16 or 32 instead of 1 in close proximity to land - that will allow you to navigate out of Lorient at a decent TC speed, but you will have to be very careful how you plot your course 'cause at 32TC it is real easy to run aground before you know it

Thanks guys. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The only solution I;ve found so far to "fix" the sub-too-long for sub-pen bug; is to back up to my previous mission - which was convieniently saved in port AFTER my last mission (i.e. - before I transferred to the bugged location, so I could transfer elsewhere).

Of course - this does nothint to actually fix the sub-pen, or positioning of the sub within it, but at least I can play that career again.

Hopefully this is officially fixed soon.

Thanks for the tips on time compression - having to take 15 minutes real time just to get out of port was getting pretty annoying.

Thanks again. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
