I find the tactical nuclear weapon option strangely attractive.

Always nice to have a back-up. If your plan goes to pot and you lose 75% of your army and supporting personnel, you can lob a n00k and take out 75% of their army and supoorting personnel. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Welcome to mutually assured destruction---yeah, being an American, I'm drawn to nuc weaponry like a moth to flame. When all else fails, chuck a nuc depth charge overboard, have six Bears headed for New York? Fire a nuc-tipped Genie at the bistids. Six Guards Tank Armies roling across southern Germany---yehaaaaaaaa...load up the 8" artillery with the nuc rounds. According to Ivan's own 1980's war plans, Western Europe was going to be carpeted with nucs so that the Soviet invasion armies would basically be rolling across a nuclear wasteland. The powers-that-be did not want any loss of morale from Ivan walking into a sale at Harrod's.

Expensive promos and irresponsible game mag hyperbole aside, it looks like another C&C/Warcraft/Dawn of War/Company of Heroes clone.

I'm sure it'll sell a million copies, instigate billions in PC upgrades, and be swiftly forgotten when the next shiny toy comes out with more explosions per second (or nukes per second).

Though, I could be wrong, and it'll be a revolution of AI, damage modeling, multi-platform simulation and interface design.

Do I seem disillusioned by the current state of big corporate, mass market game development? Nah...

Isn't that the point? Its computer games not real life... the IL2 series is the exception not the rule in the PC gaming genre!

Right - I like two things about this game: First, it is made by Swedish (Malmö) Massive Entertainment where my good friend works as a graphics artist and this will no doubt help the small company survive. Second - published by Sierra. I just love Sierra, ever since days of Amiga, then Red Baron series and GP Legends. Other then that - I F#CKIN' HATE STRATEGY GAMEZ! Dune II was fun on Amiga, and then everyone copied the concept and now I wouldn't waste my time playing such ****! The intro is cool, though! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif Anyone seen my green pill?
