Talk about getting chucked in the deep end!!!
First mission was a patrol off the north west coast of ireland, and i returned with an tanker and a c3 cargo sunk http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.
The second mission was the fun one http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif, starting in the north of germany (40) i had to go and patrol just to the west of liverpool. After getting chased by a torpedo boat and a destroyer in the channel i eventually made it to the objective. Once there a task force with destroyer and torpedo boat cover came out of liverpool, so i thought i would have a go. Lasted about 15 minutes before 2 ships depth charged me http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif. But i had emense fun, talk about addictive, i love this game. Now to start again http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well done! It's not often we hear of such successes from a first patrol in SH3 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

NW Ireland is a good patrol area - you were lucky to get that first time! NE Ireland / west of Liverpool is a good area for convoys.

Nice avatarm by the way - it would look good on the side of your U-boat's conning tower http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Good job there http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

And I'm glad you are enjoying the game, It's really amazing that people are playing this for the first time even though the game is nearly 18 months old - and getting addicted to it too!

I remember my first patrol, I had a Type II with 5 measly topedoes and all I sank was a couple of merchants - looks like you got off to to a great start!

Just a suggestion, start a career at Kiel, and then transfer to Wilhelmshaven after the 1st patrol. That way you get to keep your VIIb. This way, I scored my 4th ever 100K on the second patrol, sometime in October 1939, after I decimated a convoy in Am51/52 and deck-gunned some lone merchants.
