You beat me to it in saying that. Just to think that they have more detailed maps and even more they have a year to work on them yet! bazzaah2, did you notice that there is a folder marked PC on the DVD,
look at the SOW-BoB folder inside it, then look at the 'toolshots'
folder and the 'ground' folder that's inside that one.
That picture you posted is in high resolution in that folder.

Small point, and I might be being *n*l, but I wonder if the gun patches on Spits and Hurris will be intact on take off, but 'holed' only if the guns are fired? Does'nt really matter I know, but there is so much detail in other areas.

Simply amazing detail... I wish Battleground Europe would have that kind of detail. These are almost as if you'd have peeked in a cocpit and made photo in a museum.

The terrain is amazing as well. Photo-realistic..

The exterior models are great... finally, no such issues as in Il2 where some models were very very old from beginning of development, and thus poorer quality.

Looking forward to it!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I betcha the skin mapping for the airplanes were made from a 2048X2048 size. Oleg once answered my question in this regard and said there will be several different sizes for the skin mapping. I can see how better the airplanes look with you use a larger mapping area for skins.

Oleg says they are working on their 'skeleton technology'; we could well see legs and hands at some point in BoB, read this:

The thing is a YEAR is such a long time to wait... Anything could change in that time. I`ve seen other games\sims companies come out with amazing promises (including astonishing pictures) and then seen only half of them happen at the end. Even all these wonderful great scens and details of motorbikes and cars, etc could all easily be cut back to basic graphics due to `engine limitations`. Stunning Graphical pictures (and evening small one-off movies) are easy to spring up for show a year before release, but what about the actual sim?

Guess it`s just my jaded experience, but I wouldn`t get too excited until we see what`s really happening 8 months later...<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I hope they make the stuff on the ground more believeable, like whentyou killl a vehicle or train its driving and then its just deadgoes from preety o twisted and broken realy quick aand jus tlooks weird, I think If I put some 50 cal bullets into a tank goin 40 mph it would keep goin for a little while before stopping
but either way it does look like it will be pretty good but as the other guy said, things cn change in a year plus however many 2 weeks it takes<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Ah, so it's "I say Bernard, that's a jolly little tank isn't it?"

Oh ... my ... god ...

Why did I have to look at that tank screenshot? And why did those strangely-dressed men singing "YMCA" come into my mind when thinking of the crew? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/354.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Man that terrain is gorgeous.

One thing bothers me about the Spit in that shot though: the inside of the cockpit is lit up. If I know my lighting, it should be quite dark in there compared to the rest of the scene.

I hope they aren't finished with the lighting model, because there's no reason not to handle such unbalance of lighting either through HDR, Spherical Harmonics or at least by darkening the texture of the cockpit interior. (technical terms in case MG is reading this, otherwise disregard).<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I think the lighting for BoB will be very advanced. I think these first screenshots are a little simplified..for instance; (if you're talking about that first screenshot in this thread) there are not even 'drop-shadows' where the aircraft casts shadows on itself. I think (not sure though) we will get those in the game.
Oleg has said before that he is not yet releasing shots using all aspects of the new lighting, so I'm sure there will be some inprovement.

This WIP image cleary shows 'drop-shadows', so I'm hoping that we will get the option to turn them on in the game:

Ooooh...Thank you for posing this. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I was waiting to see this. It will look very good in engine I'm sure. I cannot wait to see what it will look like with all lighting effects turned on.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Will this be harder on my pc than FSX? Running a 7900gt and 1gb ram and I have trouble running it.

almost certainly - Oleg has said (and I paraphrase, possibly inaccurately) that a PC that can run Il2 46 well now will run BOB on its basic settings.

I'm saving the inevitable upgrades till after it comes out.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I'm hopeful. Oleg said somewhere that he wanted to avoid the mistake that FSX made re playability.

I'm certain I'll have to turn the settings right down though http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
