Print screen button on your keyboard, been there since the dawn of mankind.

You push the key called "Print Screen" (it is just right of the F12 key). Then look in the main IL2 Sturmovik folder for a file called "grab0000.tga". The number is sequential based on how many times you hit the print screen button. The grab000.tga can then be opened with any graphics viewing program.

Well, Paint can't open it, but I don't think that qualifies as a graphics program.

An alternate method is to press Alt-Printscreen, which captures the screen to the Windows Clipboard. Then open Paint and Paste the image which can then be saved in any format you like. The advantage of this is that it works for ANY windows application. The disadvantage is that only one image can be done at a time.

Do note that the best time to take a series of illuminating screenshots is when you have someone on your 6 about about to fire.

If you pull back on the stick whilst repeated pressing Printscreen you get the best results.

FRAPS. That's what I use. You can download it here:-
http://www.airwarfare.com/Sims/FB/fb_essential_files.htm#010

Saves the image as a Bitmap, so you might want to convert to Jpeg asap to save HD space.

Another nice free utility is Irfanview:-

Hope it helps.

For the record this is derisively known as the print screen cheat because it causes screen freezes in the gunsight of your opponent. Only flyers without any real skills or character resort to it..... not only that if it happens everytime someone gets on your 6 you will eventually gain a reputation as a printscreen hack and just get booted from a lot of servers, especially the ones with tight settings.

Or, alternatively, you can just run the reverse engineered version of Il-2 and dispense with the Printscreen key altogether.

I use FRAPS also. It's free, easy and quite useful. Uses minimal resources as well. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

What bashing, Paint can't open .tga files. Some would say Paint isn't a graphics progam, others won't. I've seen amazing work done in Paint, just have to know what your doing.

Another free one is growler guncam. It saves the screen shot as a jpeg automatically.
